Weegar signs an 8 X $6.25 million contract with the Flames after being acquired in the offseason as part of the Jonathan Huberdeau and Matthew Tkachuk mega deal. The 28-year-old comes off an 8-goal, 44-point breakout season in 2021-22 fueled by a career-high 23:22 average time-on-ice. He was one of 13 defensemen last season to pass 200 shots (203) finishing ninth in plus/minus (+40) across the entire NHL.

Robertson has missed the entire preseason while the Stars worked out an extension for him but get him signed one week before their season opener in Nashville. Robertson is coming off a breakout year, scoring 41 goals with 38 assists (79 points) in 74 games. He was tied for 13th in goals and tied for 35th in points. With new head coach Pete DeBoer behind the bench, we'll see if he goes back to the Robertson, Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski line that was so successful last season.

Barzal enters the final year of his three-year, $21.0M ($7.0M AAV) deal and gets a $2.15M AAV raise to remain with the team through the 2031 season. Barzal dazzled as a rookie, posting 85 points (22G / 63A) in 82 games but has averaged just 67 points per 82 games in four years since.

Sprong was acquired from the Capitals in March and he had six goals and no assists in 16 games with the Kraken. The 2015 second-round pick has collected 70 points (46G / 24A) in 202 career NHL games with the Penguins, Ducks, Capitals and Kraken.

Harrington was with the Sharks on a PTO but earned a one-year deal and could be in their opening night roster. Harrington, who spent almost all of last season in the AHL, has been skating on the top pair with Erik Karlsson recently.

Beaulieu was with the Ducks on a PTO and gets a one-year deal to serve as a depth defenseman. Beaulieu likely won't have a full-time role. Similar to last season, when he played just 24 games and averaged 10:46 TOI/gm with the Jets.

de Haan was in training camp on a PTO but earned a one-year deal to help strengthen the left side of the Hurricanes' blueline. de Haan will likely battle with Ethan Bear for playing time but seems to be the front-runner to land the 3LD spot to open the season. de Haan had four goals and four assists (eight points) in 69 games with the Blackhawks last season.

During his two seasons in Montreal, Allen has gone 20-23-9 with a 3.01 GAA and .906 SV% in 64 games (62 starts). With Carey Price's uncertain future, Allen gets a two-year deal to help stabilize the Canadiens' crease during their rebuild.

Sandin held out of training camp while he worked out his new deal with the Maple Leafs. Sandin will still be an RFA when this contract expires and should fight for a top-4 role in camp. He had five goals and 11 assists (16 points) in 51 games a season ago.

Knight's new contract does not kick in until next season, he'll play 2022-23 in the final year of his ELC. The 21-year-old will open the season as the No.2 behind Sergei Bobrovsky but could fight for near equal usage. Last season he was 19-9-3 with a 2.74 GAA and .908 SV%.

McLeod was essentially a full-time NHLer in 2022, scoring nine goals with 12 assists (21 points) in 71 games with the Oilers. Entering his age-23 season, McLeod will serve as Edmonton's No.3 centre behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl/Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. However, he did see some playing time on the wing in the top-6 down the stretch last year.

Hayton was the No.5 overall pick in 2018 and has 31 points (13G / 18A) in 94 career NHL games, including 24 points (10G / 14A) in 60 games a season ago. With limited competition for minutes down the middle in Arizona, Hayton could be their No.1 option between Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz in 2022-23.

McKinnon had been one of the most underpaid players in the NHL for years but will have the highest AAV when the 2024 season starts at $12.6. McKinnon missed 17 games last season but was on pace for 111 points (40G / 71A) over 82 games. He also led the playoffs in goals (13) and won his first Stanley Cup. Overall, 2022 was a great year for Nathan MacKinnon.
