Matinpalo will enter the Finland lineup on Friday.

Matinpalo was a healthy scratch for the tournament opener on Wednesday, but will replace Mikko Lehtonen on the back-end on Friday. Matinpalo will skate on the third pair with Olli Maatta and Henri Jokiharju will be the seventh defenseman. Matinpalo is a big, physical defenseman that doesn't bring much offence to the table, posting just four assists in 30 games with the Senators this season.

Ullmark (illness) is out vs. Philadelphia on Thursday.

Linus Ullmark is battling an illness and will not play in Ottawa's final game before the Olympic break, but should resume his role as the starting goalie when play resumes in late February. Ottawa recalled Hunter Shepard from Belleville (AHL) to serve as James Reimer's backup on Thursday.

Linus Ullmark
Reimer will start in Philadelphia on Thursday.

Linus Ullmark is battling an illness, so he will be unavailable on Thursday, resulting in Reimer tending the twine against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 37-year-old Reimer allowed four goals in 19 shots (.789 SV%) in Ottawa's previous game, a 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. He has a sub- .900 SV% in four straight games (1-3-0). The Senators enter Thursday's contest as -132 road favourites against a Flyers team coming off a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals.

James Reimer
Reimer will start in Carolina on Tuesday.

Linus Ullmark got the nod on Monday, so the Senators will hand Reimer the start against his former team on Tuesday. Reimer guided the Sens to a major upset in his last start, stopping 16 of the 18 shots he faced in a 5-2 win over the Avalanche last Wednesday. The 16-year-veteran has made five starts since joining the Senators in January, posting a 2-2-1 record and an .873 SV%. Ottawa enters action on Tuesday at +145 on the money line.

Chabot (undisclosed) will play in Pittsburgh on Monday.

Chabot exited Saturday's 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils after 15:59 time-on-ice because of an undisclosed injury. The 29-year-old defenseman has 22 points (5G / 17A) in 39 games this season, and his status for Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins is uncertain.

Chabot (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision in Pittsburgh on Monday.

Ullmark will start in Pittsburgh on Monday.

Ullmark returned from a five-week absence due to personal reasons in Ottawa's previous game and was tremendous, saving 26 of 27 shots (.963 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. The 32-year-old Ullmark was having a rough season before his leave of absence, posting a 2.95 GAA and .881 SV% in 28 games (14-9-5). The team hopes he can build on Saturday's solid performance when he returns to the crease on Monday, entering the game as slight -104 road underdogs against a Pittsburgh Penguins team on a six-game winning streak.

Linus Ullmark
Halliday (upper-body) has a chance to return vs. New Jersey on Saturday.

Halliday has not played since a tremendous outing on Sunday in a 7-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, scoring a career-high three points (2G / 1A) before exiting the game after just 7:39 time-on-ice due to an upper-body injury. The 23-year-old Halliday has 10 points (3G / 7A) in 21 games and is hopeful to play on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils.

Reimer will start vs. Colorado on Wednesday.

Linus Ullmark (personal) returned as a backup to Mads Sogaard in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, and will return to that role on Wednesday, backing up James Reimer against the Colorado Avalanche. The 37-year-old Reimer has kept his team in most games since making his debut two weeks ago, but had a poor showing in his most recent outing, allowing four goals on 19 shots (.789 SV%) in a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Senators enter Wednesday's contest as +122 home underdogs against the league-leading Avalanche, who are in their worst stretch of the season, losing six of their last 10 games (4-4-2).

James Reimer
Bourgault will draw back into Ottawa's lineup vs. Colorado on Wednesday.

Bourgault was a first-round pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut earlier this season, playing one game with Ottawa. The 23-year-old forward has 37 points (14G / 23A) in 43 games with Belleville (AHL) this season.

Xavier Bourgault
Ullmark (personal) is still not ready to return to game action with Ottawa but is getting closer to starting.

Ullmark dressed for the first time in nearly a month, serving as Ottawa's backup goalie on Sunday in their 7-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. He is not ready to return to action yet, but given that Mads Sogaard was assigned to Belleville (AHL) earlier today, his return is likely imminent.

Linus Ullmark
Halliday (upper-body) missed practice on Tuesday after leaving Sunday's game vs. Vegas and is considered day-to-day.

Halliday had a tremendous outing in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, scoring a career-high three points (2G / 1A), but exited the game after just 7:39 time-on-ice due to an upper-body injury. It's unclear what his status will be for tomorrow's game against the Colorado Avalanche but at the moment he is unlikely to dress.
