McAvoy (upper-body) underwent surgery on Wednesday and does not have a timetable to return.

McAvoy exited Boston's 3-2 win over Montreal on Saturday after only 13:41 time-on-ice due to an upper-body injury and has not played since. The 27-year-old defenseman successfully underwent surgery on Wednesday, but it's unclear when he will return and if this will impact his availability for the upcoming winter Olympics. He has 14 points (0G / 14A) through 19 games this season.

Charlie McAvoy
Garland (undisclosed) was a full participant in practice Wednesday and is ready to return to the Canucks lineup.

Garland suffered an undisclosed injury in the first period of Vancouver's 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, exiting the game after only 4:21 time-on-ice. The 29-year-old Garland has 13 points (5G / 8A) in 17 games this season. He will return to the lineup on Thursday against the Dallas Stars after a one-game absence.

Conor Garland
Tufte is expected to be a healthy scratch on Wednesday in Anaheim.

Jeffrey Viel will return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Anaheim Ducks, sending Tufte to the sidelines as a healthy scratch. Tufte made his season debut in Boston's most recent game and scored a goal. The 27-year-old Tufte has 16 points (8G / 8A) in 13 games with the Providence Bruins (AHL) this season.

Riley Tufte
Tkachuk has started skating and could be back sometime in the next month in time for the Winter Classic.

Tkachuk has yet to play this season due to an injury, but has resumed skating and is targeting a return in late December. The 27-year-old Tkachuk recorded 57 points (22G / 35A), 84 hits, and 156 shots last season in 52 games, missing 30 contests due to a lower-body injury.

Matthew Tkachuk
Lyubushkin is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Lyubushkin is battling an undisclosed injury, did not play on Tuesday, and remains day-to-day. The 31-year-old Lyubushkin has spent most of the season playing alongside Thomas Harley, who is also sidelined week-to-week due to an injury. Vladislav Kolyachonok drew into the lineup as Lyubushkin's replacement on Tuesday.

Ilya Lyubushkin
Dostal will start vs. Boston on Wednesday.

After an impressive seven-game winning streak, the Ducks have fallen back to earth, losing three of four (1-3-0), and will turn to Dostal between the pipes on Wednesday against the Boston Bruins. The 25-year-old Dostal didn't have to be spectacular in his most recent outing, saving 16 of 18 shots (.889 SV%) in a 3-2 win over the Utah Mammoth. Dostal has a 2.80 GAA and .903 SV% in 15 games this season (9-5-1). The Ducks enter the action on Wednesday as -169 home favorites against an injury-depleted Bruins team that has lost two of their last three (1-2-0).

Lukas Dostal
Allen will start in Florida on Thursday.

The Devils have points in six straight (5-0-1) and will turn to Allen to tend the twine on Thursday against the Florida Panthers. The 35-year-old Allen was solid in his most recent outing, saving 29 of 31 shots (.935 SV%) in a 3-2 shootout win over the Washington Capitals. He has a 2.24 GAA and .916 SV% in 10 appearances this season (7-2-0).

Jake Allen
Cooley is expected to start in Buffalo on Wednesday.

Earlier in the season, the Flames were playing Dustin Wolf on both ends of back-to-backs, but have seemingly been more comfortable lately with Cooley, who will likely tend the twine on Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres. The 28-year-old Cooley has yet to record a win this season, but has been impressive in limited action, posting a 1.75 GAA and .935 SV% in five appearances (0-2-1). The Flames enter Wednesday's contest as +137 road underdogs against a Sabres team coming off a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Devin Cooley
Duchene (upper-body) will travel with Dallas on their upcoming road trip.

Duchene suffered an upper-body injury after a massive open-ice hit from Minnesota's Jacob Middleton in the third game of the season, was sidelined for one game, returned, and has mysteriously been out of the lineup since. Few details have been released regarding Duchene's injury, but has has been practicing with the team for the last several days, and could return to the lineup in their upcoming four-game road trip. The 34-year-old Duchene led Dallas last season with 82 points (30G / 52A) in 82 games.

Matt Duchene
Dostal (ANA) is the likely starter vs.

Gibson will start vs. the Islanders on Thursday.

The Red Wings have points in four straight (3-0-1), a streak that Gibson has struggled to contribute to, but he will tend the twine on Thursday against a New York Islanders coming off a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars. The 32-year-old Gibson has failed to record a victory in five straight appearances (0-3-1), posting a 3.20 GAA and .875 SV%. He has a 3.31 GAA and .875 SV% in 11 games this season (4-5-1).

John Gibson
Andersen is in the starter's crease at Carolina's morning skate.

The Hurricanes have received stellar netminding from Pyotr Kochetkov since his debut in early November, but the team has remained committed to alternating its goalies and will likely turn to Andersen on Wednesday against the Minnesota Wild. The 36-year-old Andersen has been far from spectacular this season, allowing three or more goals in eight of 10 contests (5-4-1), posting a 3.10 GAA and .886 SV%. The Hurricanes enter Wednesday's contest as -158 road favorites against a Wild team that has points in five straight games (4-0-1) despite scoring two or fewer goals three times.

Frederik Andersen
Nichushkin (lower body) remains week-to-week but skated in a non-contact jersey on Wednesday.

Nichushkin exited last Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks due to a lower-body injury after only 12:57 time-on-ice. The 30-year-old Nichushkin has 12 points (5G / 7A) in 17 games this season, and has been more productive lately, with nine points (3G / 6A) in his last 10 games. Nichushkin has played fewer than 55 games in each of the previous four seasons due to injuries and could be headed down that same path in 2025-26, as he is out week-to-week.

Valeri Nichushkin
Matthews (lower body) is improving but will not play on Thursday.

Matthews has not played since suffering a lower-body injury from a Nikita Zadorov hit one week ago, but returned to practice on Tuesday, suggesting he is inching closer to a return. That said, Head Coach Craig Berube stated that he "obviously" would not be ready for Thursday's game against Columbus. The 28-year-old Matthews has not been as dynamic as in previous seasons early in 2025-26, scoring 14 points (9G / 5A) through 17 games, but the Leafs have lost five of six and will be eager for their captain to return to the lineup.

Auston Matthews
Laughton (upper body) is progressing and could be an option on Thursday.

Laughton suffered a lower-body injury towards the end of training camp, made his season debut on November 5th, and only played two games before suffering an upper-body injury. The 31-year-old Laughton was limited to only four points (2G / 2A) in 20 games with the Maple Leafs after being acquired before last season's trade deadline. The Maple Leafs hope that he can return to the production he had in his previous two full seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, when he scored 82 points (31G / 51A) in 160 games.

Scott Laughton
Schwindt (broken arm) requires surgery and is expected to miss 2-3 months.

Schwindt exited Florida's most recent game in the first period after only four shifts, with, as was revealed on Wednesday, a broken arm. The 24-year-old is scheduled to have surgery once swelling decreases and will likely be sidelined for two to three months. He had two points (2G / 0A) in 10 games before his injury.

Cole Schwindt
Devine will make his NHL debut on Thursday vs. New Jersey.

Devine was drafted in the seventh-round, 221st overall, by the Panthers in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 22-year-old forward, a product of the University of Denver, has been impressive in the AHL this season, scoring 12 points (6G / 6A) through 13 games. He will make his NHL debut on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils.
