Despite free agency opening up, Dallas has secured forward Colin Blackwell for two more seasons after he signed a two-year, $1.55 million contract ($775,000 AAV) on Tuesday. Oskar Back will draw back into the Stars' lineup on Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets, resulting in Blackwell being a healthy scratch. The 32-year-old Blackwell is averaging 11:35 time-on-ice and has 15 points (5G / 10A) in 61 games this season.

Blackwell did not play the previous two games for Dallas, but he will return to the lineup on Monday against the Seattle Kraken. The 32-year-old Blackwell is averaging 11:34 time-on-ice and has 15 points (5G / 10A) in 57 games this season.

Blackwell will take a seat on Thursday as the Stars opt to get some fresh legs into their lineup for the tail-end of their back-to-back. Mavrik Bourque will draw into the lineup in his place.

Mavrik Bourque will return to the lineup from an upper-body injury, sending Blackwell to the press box as a healthy scratch against the Los Angeles Kings.
