Washington has acquired David Kampf from Vancouver for a 6th round draft pick.

Kampf had his contract terminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this season and pleased reasonably well in a bottom-six role after joining the Vancouver Canucks. The 31-year-old Czech forward is averaging 15:02 time-on-ice and has six points (2G / 4A) in 38 games this season.

Washington has acquired Jesper Vikman, a 2027 3rd round pick and a 2029 2nd round pick from Vegas for Nic Dowd.

Vikman was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights, but has yet to make his NHL debut. The 23-year-old Swedish goalie had a 3.41 GAA and .866 SV% in 18 games (8-7-3) this season with the Henderson Silver Knights (AHL).

Washington has signed Ethan Frank to a two-year, $2 million AAV contract extension ($4 million total).

Frank has been impressive in his first full season at the NHL level and has earned himself a two-year contract extension with the Capitals. The 28-year-old forward is averaging 12:44 time-on-ice and has 23 points (11G / 12A) in 52 games this season.

Thompson will start vs. Utah on Tuesday.

Thompson has been doing his part to help the Capitals get back into the playoff picture and will likely return to the crease on Tuesday against the Utah Mammoth. The 29-year-old Thompson was solid in his most recent outing, saving 24 of 26 shots (.923 SV%) in a 3-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, helping him improve to 4-1-0 with a 2.21 GAA and .920 SV% in his last five games. The Capitals enter Tuesday's contest as -119 home favourites against a Mammoth team coming off a disappointing 4-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 24-year-old Lapierre is averaging 8:28 time-on-ice and has 10 points (2G / 8A) in 57 games this season.

Lindgren will start in Montreal on Saturday.

Lindgren will return to the crease for the first time since the Olympic break on Saturday to tend the twine against his former team, the Montreal Canadiens. The 32-year-old Lindgren was struggling heading into the break, allowing three or more goals in eight straight games (3-3-2), posting a 3.86 GAA and .875 SV%. He allowed four goals on 28 shots (.857 SV%) in his only meeting with Montreal this season, but salvaged an 8-4 victory.

Thompson was excellent in his return from the Olympic break, saving 23 of 24 shots (.958 SV%), and hopes to build on that when he returns to the crease on Friday against his former team, the Vegas Golden Knights. The 29-year-old Thompson has faced the Golden Knights twice in his career and has played exceptionally in those games (2-0-0), posting a 2.01 GAA and .941 SV%. The Capitals enter Friday's contest as -114 home favourites against a Golden Knights team that erupted for six goals in its previous game, a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
