Woll has helped an inconsistent Maple Leafs team battle back into the race for a playoff spot, but he has faced some adversity lately. The 27-year-old American goalie has lost four straight games (0-2-2), posting a concerning 4.12 GAA and .885 SV%, following up a near-perfect eight-game streak (7-0-1) where he had a 2.54 GAA and .914 SV%. The Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's action as +101 home underdogs against a Buffalo Sabres team that has the best record in the NHL since early December (18-3-1).

Nylander (lower-body) is hopeful to play on Toronto's current road trip.

Nylander has been sidelined for nearly two weeks because of a lower-body injury, but appears to be nearing a return to the lineup. The 29-year-old Nylander has already missed 15 games this season, but has been exceptionally productive when healthy, scoring 48 points (17G / 31A) in 37 games this season.

Quillan will play for the first time since December 30th, suiting up in his fourth game of the season. Quillan will replace Calle Jarnkork and is expected to skate on the fourth-line and play a minimal role, like he has in the first three games of the season, where he's averaged just 8:06 TOI/gm.

With Anthony Stolarz being activated off IR and returning to Toronto's roster, Matt Benning has been reassigned to the Toronto Marlies (AHL). The 31-year-old appeared in one game with the Maple Leafs this season and failed to pick up a point. He returns to the Marlies, where he has two goals and 10 points in 16 games played this season.

With Anthony Stolarz returning from IR on Friday, Dennis Hildeby was the odd man out on Toronto's roster and has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies (AHL). The 24-year-old towering netminder played incredibly well during his time filling in for Stolarz, with a 5-6-4 record, 2.90 GAA and .912 SV% in a career high 19 appearances.

Stolarz has been sidelined since November 11th and will return to the crease on Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights, just days after being sent on a conditioning stint with the Toronto Marlies (AHL). The 32-year-old Stolarz was set to be a big part of Toronto's crease this season after having a tremendous 2024-25 campaign, posting a 2.14 GAA and .926 SV% in 34 games (21-8-3). That said, he had an awful start to the 2025-26 season, with a 3.51 GAA and .884 SV% in 13 games (6-5-1), and hopes to return to form after his prolonged absence.

Ekman-Larsson (lower-body) will play vs. Vegas after leaving last game with an injury.

Ekman-Larsson suffered a lower-body injury early in the first period of Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings and did not return. The 34-year-old blue-liner has played every game this season and will keep that streak intact, drawing into the lineup on Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights. He has eight goals and 23 assists in 50 games.

Thrun has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

Thrun will likely serve as insurance for Thursday's game with both Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Brandon Carlo nicked up. Both of them took part in the morning skate, suggesting that they will play and Thrun will enjoy an NHL pay check as a healthy scratch. He has spent most of the season with the Toronto Marlies, where he has 14 points (3G / 11A) in 28 games.

This has been a regular occurrence for Knies lately, who is battling an undisclosed ailment and skipped Wednesday's morning skate with the expectation of playing in the evening as well. The 23-year-old Knies is having an excellent season, with 41 points (12G / 29A) and 100 hits in 46 games. He joins Tom Wilson as the only player in the NHL with over 40 points and 100 hits.

The Maple Leafs enter Wednesday's contest as slight -111 home favorites against a Red Wings that has won six of their last seven games (6-1-0).
