With Toronto's season over, they are trying new faces in the lineup on Monday as Ryan Tverberg is expected to make his NHL debut, replacing Michael Pezzetta. The 24-year-old forward was Toronto's 2020 7th round pick (213th overall) and had 14 goals and 32 points in 61 games with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) earlier this season.
Tverberg was a seventh-round pick of the Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft that has yet to play an NHL game. The 24-year-old forward has 32 points (14G / 18A) this season in 61 games with the Marlies (AHL). Bo Groulx was reassigned to the Marlies in a corresponding move.
The 2020 seventh-round pick will join the Toronto Marlies for the remainder of the season on a professional tryout, so this contract doesn't kick in until 2023-24. Tverberg had 30 points (15G / 15A) in 35 games with the University of Connecticut this season.
