Toronto Maple Leafs News

Woll is in the starter's crease at Toronto's morning skate.

After being one of the few consistent pieces in an up-and-down season for the Maple Leafs, Woll finds himself battling some adversity, allowing four or more goals in three of his last four games, but has still managed to salvage a 3-0-1 record. The 27-year-old Woll has a 2.82 GAA and .909 SV% in 15 games this season. He likely will return to the crease on Tuesday, with the Maple Leafs entering action as +113 road underdogs against a Florida Panthers team coming off an impressive 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Nylander (undisclosed) has been placed on IR retroactive to December 27th.

Nylander missed his third straight game on Saturday and was retroactively placed on Injured Reserve. It's unclear was Nylander's status is heading into Tuesday's game against the Florida Panthers, but he is eligible to be activated from IR at any time. The 29-year-old Nylander has been excellent when healthy, scoring 41 points (14G / 27A) in 33 games.

Woll will start vs. Winnipeg on Thursday.

Woll had a subpar performance in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Ottawa Senators, allowing five goals on 31 shots (.839 SV%), but immediately responded with a 33-save shutout in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the New Jersey Devils. The Maple Leafs have had an up-and-down season, but have regularly received consistent netminding from Woll, who has a 2.51 GAA and .920 SV% in 13 games (8-4-1). Matthews (lower-body) will return to Toronto's lineup vs. Winnipeg on Thursday.

The Maple Leafs were successful without Matthews in their previous game, a 4-0 win over the New Jersey Devils, but will be eager to have their captain back in the lineup.
