Edvinsson has missed the last three games due to an illness, but will re-enter the lineup on Friday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 22-year-old Swedish defenseman is averaging 21:32 time-on-ice and has six points (3G / 3A) in 21 games this season.

The Red Wings will turn to Gibson on Friday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning, looking for stability in their crease after being outscored 18-9 in their last four games (1-3-0). The Red Wings acquired the 32-year-old Gibson in the offseason in hopes of solidifying their goaltending position, but he has left much to be desired, posting an ugly 3.46 GAA and .870 SV% in 12 appearances (4-6-1). That said, one of his best performances of the season came in a 2-1 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning when he saved 21 of 32 shots (.969 SV%).

Compher is battling an illness and could be at risk of missing his first game of the season on Wednesday when Detroit hosts the Nashville Predators. The 30-year-old Compher has struggled to find his offensive footing this season, going pointless in his last eight, and scoring only six points (3G / 3A) through 23 contests.

The Bruins' depleted forward core received more bad news over the weekend, with Arvidsson being sidelined week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury. The 32-year-old Arvidsson was off to a reasonable start in his first season in Boston, scoring 10 points (6G / 4A) through 10 games.

Gibson was playing reasonably well against his former club, the Anaheim Ducks, on Thursday night, saving 15 of 17 shots (.882 SV%), but exited the game during the second intermission due to an upper-body injury. The Red Wings mentioned after practice that Gibson will be okay and ready to join the lineup on Saturday.

Tarasov will search for his first win as a Florida Panther when he tends the twine on Thursday against the Washington Capitals. The 26-year-old netminder has been used sparingly this season, posting a 2.50 GAA and .891 SV% while playing in only four games (0-3-1). The Panthers enter Thursday's contest as -124 home favorites against a Capitals team coming off an impressive 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
