Kreider has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his right arm and is out indefinitely.

Kreider reportedly left the first period because his arm felt weird and he was sent to the hospital where they discovered he has a blood clot in his arm. Kreider will be sidelined for an extended period of time. Players with similar blood clots have missed about 6-8 weeks.

Kreider left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Kreider did not return after the first period of Wednesday’s shootout win over the Capitals after sustaining an upper-body injury. Head coach Alain Vigneault said that they will have an update on Kreider on Thursday, so consider him questionable for Friday’s game in Detroit.

Brossoit will start Thursday vs. the Predators.

Brossoit allowed two goals on 29 shots in the Oilers blowout win in Columbus on Tuesday. Brossoit has been excellent in his last three appearances, going 2-1-0 while allowing just five goals on 76 shots (.934 SV%). The young netminder is still searching for his first win on home ice this season but will be in tough tonight with the Predators in town.

Brossoit stopped 22 of 23 shots in the Oilers loss in Toronto on Sunday. After some really rough starts, Brossoit played great over the weekend, stopping 44 of the 47 shots (.936 SV%) that he faced to go 1-1-0. Tonight he will be in tough in Columbus—the Blue Jackets are 6-1-0 in their last seven games on home ice.

Brossoit allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Oilers loss to the Flyers on Wednesday. Since Cam Talbot got hurt, Brossoit has allowed a combined 13 goals on 101 shots (.871 SV%) in three starts. He has struggled mightily all season-long and will be in tough tonight as he goes head-to-head with Carey Price in Montreal.

Brossoit allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Oilers win in Calgary on Saturday. Since Cam Talbot went down with injury, Brossoit has allowed a combined 10 goals on 69 shots (/855 SV%) in two starts. The young netminder has had a tough season, making him a risky spot start, even against a struggling Philadelphia team.

Brossoit surrendered five goals (one from his own team) on 35 shots in the Oilers 6-4 loss to the Maple Leafs on Thursday. With Cam Talbot sidelined, the Oilers will need more out of Brossoit if they’re going to stay afloat in the Western Conference over the next few weeks. Brossoit is 0-2-1 with a 2.53 GAA and .914 SV% on the road this season but does have a win in the Scotiabank Saddledome in his young career.
