Holl currently sits tied for 10th in the NHL with his +7 plus/minus but is the odd man out of the Red Wings lineup Monday as they take on the New York Rangers. The 31-year-old defenseman was signed to a three-year, $10.2 million contract in the off-season and has three assists, one SOG, 10 PIMs, and a +7 plus/minus in eight games so far in 2023-24.

Holl had two goals, 16 assists, 60 SOG, 39 PIMs and a +15 plus/minus through 80 games with Toronto in 2022-23 and has signed a three-year contract worth $10.2 million ($3.4M AAV) in Detroit. The 31-year-old undrafted defenseman joined the Maple Leafs in 2017-18 and has scored 11 goals and 82 points with a +58 plus/minus in 285 career NHL games since.


Holl has two goals, 12 assists, 48 SOG, 35 PIMs and a +16 plus/minus through 66 games played this season but will be a healthy scratch Friday. He will be replaced by Luke Schenn, who is making his Maple Leafs' debit this season after being traded for at the Trade Deadline.

The Maple Leafs have not received his COVID test back yet, but Holl is not well enough to play Saturday regardless. Timothy Liljegren will replace Holl in the lineup vs. Ottawa.

Holl was originally considered questionable for Wednesday's game but reportedly responded well after Tuesday's practice and should be in the lineup in Ottawa. Holl has had a nice season as a top-4 defenseman, scoring two goals with 18 assists in 53 games.

Holl took a puck to the face in Saturday's win over the Canucks and will not be available for Monday's game in Montreal. Head coach Sheldon Keefe said he doesn't expect Holl to miss too much time beyond Monday. With Holl out, look for Timothy Liljegren to draw back into the lineup.

Holl was a second-round pick of the Blackhawks back in 2010 but signed with the Maple Leafs in 2016. The 27-year-old defenseman has registered 11 points (1G / 10A) in 38 games this season, his first full-NHL campaign.

Holl played 9:07 TOI in his season debut in Columbus on Friday before sitting out Saturday’s game vs. the Canadiens. He continues to rotate with Martin Marincin, so he will skate with Rasmus Sandin on Monday night.
