Holl will re-enter the lineup for Tuesday's game on Long Island after sitting out Saturday's game in Nashville. Olli Maatta will sit in his place.


Holl has not played an AHL game since the 2017-18 season, a trend that will continue, at least for the time being, after being recalled again by the Red Wings. The 32-year-old Holl picked up an assist and two PIMs in two games with the Red Wings this season.

After a brief two-game appearance, Justin Holl has been reassigned to Grand Rapids (AHL) after picking up an assist and two PIMs with the Red Wings. The 32-year-old defensemen will return to Grand Rapids likely as a paper move and is expected to return to Detroit for their game on Thursday. If he does appear in a game for Grand Rapids, it will be his first AHL experience since 2017-18.

Holl was recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) this morning and is expected to make his season debut in place of Erik Gustafsson (healthy scratch). Holl played in just 38 games a season ago, tallying eight assists, 14 SOG and 59 hits.

With Jeff Petry getting hurt in the Red Wings' season opener, Holl returns to the roster. It's unclear if Holl or Albert Johansson will draw into the Red Wings' lineup vs. the Predators.


Holl will get the chance to play on Thursday as the Red Wings are being forced into dressing seven defensemen due to Patrick Kane and Austin Czarnik missing out due to illness. Daniel Sprong will also re-enter the lineup.

Holl will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday, allowing Jake Walman to draw back into the lineup. Holl has only played twice in the last month, recording a +1 plus/minus and six hits.


Holl will be the odd-man out on Friday as Jake Walman is set to return from an illness. Holl has no goals and five assists in 30 games this season.



Holl was a healthy scratch for the Red Wings' last two games but will draw back into the lineup Tuesday for Jeff Petry. The 31-year-old Holl signed a three-year, $10.2 million contract in the offseason and has provided no goals, four assists, five SOG, 18 PIMs and a +5 plus/minus in 25 games played this season.


Holl will return to the Red Wings' lineup on Monday after sitting out Saturday's game in Philadelphia. The former Maple Leaf has zero goals and three assists across 22 games in his first season as a Red Wing.

Holl will re-enter the Red Wings' lineup on Tuesday as Detroit opts to dress seven defensemen for the tail-end of their back-to-back. He has zero goals and three assists in 20 games with the Red Wings this season.


Holl had a three-assist performance on October 21st but has been held off the scoresheet in each of the 11 games since. He was a game-time decision on Wednesday against the New York Rangers.
