With the return of Will Smith and the emergence of Pavol Regenda, Igor Chernyshov found himself the odd man out and was re-assigned to the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) on Thursday. The 20-year-old Russian forward will surely be San Jose's first call up when needed after he had an impressive first NHL stint, with three goals and 11 points in 15 games played.

Chernyshov will be a healthy scratch in Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Adam Gaudette will draw back into San Jose's lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, sending Chernyshov to the sidelines as a healthy scratch. Chernyshov has been solid since making his NHL debut last month, scoring 11 points (3G / 8A) in 15 games, including a two-assist performance in yesterday's 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers.

Chernyshov was drafted 33rd overall by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year-old forward has never played an NHL game, but has been solid in the AHL this season, scoring 23 points (11G / 22A) in 25 games with the San Jose Barracuda.

San Jose has signed Igor Chernyshov to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Chernyshov was San Jose's 2024 2nd-round pick (33rd overall) and signed a three-year, entry-level contract on Thursday. The 18-year-old Russian left-winger spent 2023-24 between Dynamo Moskva (KHL) and MHK Dynamo Moskva (MHL) and had 32 points in 56 games played between the two.
