Ottawa Senators News

The Senators have signed Artem Zub to a one-year, entry-level contract.

Zub was an undrafted free agent defenseman out of Russia, who is coming off of a career-year in the KHL. The 24-old set new career-highs in goals (13), assists (9) and points (22) in 57 games with St. Petersburg SKA. In 2018 he represented Russia in the Olympics, where he had four assists in six games to help the team win gold.

Cousins (visa) is questionable to make his Golden Knights debut on Wednesday.

Cousins was not on the ice for the Golden Knights morning skate because he is having issues with his visa coming from Canada. Vegas skated with 11 forwards, leaving a spot open for Cousins to skate with Chandler Stephenson and Nicolas Roy on the third line. Consider Cousins as a game-time decision.

Nick Cousins
The Golden Knights have acquired Nick Cousins from the Canadiens for a 2021 fourth-round draft pick.

Cousins was an effective bottom-6 forward for the Canadiens this season, posting 22 points (9G / 13A) in 58 games while playing just 13:28 ATOI. In Vegas, he'll help fill a void left by Alex Tuch's injury and should be a third line winger moving forward.

Reimer (lower-body) is expected to be out "for a while."

Reimer left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury and did not return. He was replaced by Petr Mrazek, who also got hurt. That left the Hurricanes to turn to 42-year-old Zamboni driver David Ayres for the final period and a half. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour told reporters postgame that Reimer will be out a while, so look for Alex Nedeljkovic to be recalled from Charlotte (AHL).

Reimer led the Hurricanes onto the ice for warmups.

Reimer allowed three goals on 35 shots in the Hurricanes win over the Canucks on Sunday. Reimer has been great since the start of January, going 4-0-1 with a 1.91 GAA, .938 SV% and one shutout inn his last five starts. He'll look to stay hot vs. a Coyotes team that has lost five of their last six (1-4-1) while scoring just 2.17 goals per game.

Ullmark will miss 3-to-4 weeks with a lower-body injury.

Ullmark suffered a non-contact lower-body injury in Tuesday's loss to the Senators. It looked like it could be a long-term injury but Ullmark catches a break with a 3-to-4 week timetable. Jonas Johansson has been called up from Rochester (AHL) to take his spot on the roster.

Ullmark stopped 35 of 37 shots in the Sabres' 2-1 loss to the Predators on January 18th. Ullmark was playing unbelievable hockey heading into the Sabres' bye week, going 3-1-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .947 SV% in his last four starts. Tonight he faces a Senators team that he's played well against, going 1-1-0 while giving up just four goals on 52 shots (.923 SV%) in two meetings this season.
