The undrafted 27-year-old defenseman has played 40 career NHL games across stints with the Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, and Calgary Flames.

Martin will make his second start in three games as Carolina heads to Columbus to face his former team in the Blue Jackets on Thursday. The 28-year-old was claimed off waivers from Columbus in January and has been sensational for the Hurricanes with his 3-0-1 record, .925 SV% and 2.00 GAA in four games. Gustav Lindstrom will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday, allowing Vaakanainen to re-enter the lineup after not playing on Monday. The 25-year-old Vaakanainen has nine points (1G / 8A), 48 shots, and 56 hits in 46 games this season.

Brodzinski was having a terrific season with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL), scoring 25 points (11G / 14A) in 16 games, resulting in his recall earlier this season. He's managed to be an effective offensive contributor at the NHL level and has been rewarded with a two-year $1.575 million contract extension. The 30-year-old has 15 points (4G / 11A) in 37 games with the Rangers this season.
