Carolina Hurricanes News

Jarvis will not play in Chicago on Thursday.

With their playoff position firmly secured, the Hurricanes will give Jarvis, Andrei Svechnikov, and Sebastian Aho the night off on Thursday. Bradly Nadeau, Skyler Brind'Amour, and Charles-Alexis Legault will all slot in after being recalled on Wednesday.

Seth Jarvis
Andersen will start in Chicago on Thursday.

The Hurricanes are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, so Andersen will get the start when they travel to Chicago on Thursday. Andersen struggled in his last start, surrendering five goals on 30 shots in a 6-3 loss in Ottawa on Sunday. The 13-year-veteran has endured an up-and-down season between the pipes, posting a 14-14-5 record and an .870 SV% across 33 appearances. Luckily for Andersen, he does draw a favourable matchup on Thursday, as the Hurricanes enter action at -210 on the money line.

Carolina has recalled Skyler Brind'Amour from Chicago (AHL).

Brind'Amour was a sixth-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft that made his NHL debut last season with Carolina, scoring one goal in two games. The 26-year-old forward has spent the entire 2025-26 season in the AHL, where he has 34 points (16G / 18A) in 66 games with the Chicago Wolves.

Chatfield left Tuesday's game vs. Boston with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Chatfield exited Tuesday's game after only 13:54 time-on-ice due to a lower-body injury. The severity of Chatfield's injury is unclear, but the team will likely err on the side of caution with the playoffs fast approaching. The 29-year-old defenseman has 17 points (2G / 15A) in 71 games this season.

Staal (undisclosed) will return vs. Boston on Tuesday.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday, allowing Staal to re-enter the lineup. With the postseason quickly approaching, Carolina opted to be cautious with the 37-year-old Staal in their most recent game. The Canes' captain has 33 points (19G / 14A) in 73 games this season.

Jordan Staal
Bussi will start vs. Boston on Tuesday.

With only five games remaining in the regular season, it's unclear who Carolina will turn to in the playoffs, as they continue their goalie rotation on Tuesday with Bussi tending the twine. The 27-year-old Bussi had a rough stretch exiting the Olympic break, but he has played better in recent outings. He has won four straight, allowing three or fewer goals in each game while posting a 2.50 GAA and .884 SV%. The Hurricanes enter Tuesday's contest as -179 home favourites against a Boston Bruins team that has scored only three goals in its last three games (0-2-1).

Bussi led the Hurricanes onto the ice for warmups.

Bussi allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Hurricanes' win in Columbus on Tuesday. Bussi and Frederik Andersen have been in a pretty strict rotation as of late, so it's Bussi's turn on Saturday, where he'll face the Islanders on home ice. After a tough stretch of games, Bussi has settled back in as of late, winning three in a row with a 2.33 GAA and .900 SV%. He should be a strong fantasy option on Saturday vs. The Islanders, who are on the second half of a back-to-back and the Hurricanes are massive -253 favourites, the largest on the slate.
