Helleson was recalled from San Diego (AHL) after putting up a goal and two points along with 16 PIMs and a -5 plus/minus across 13 games. The 21-year-old is a 2nd round pick (47th overall) from 2019 and has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Johnston will fill in for Josh Bailey who is missing Monday's game due to an undisclosed injury. In limited action this season, Johnston has an assist in two games while averaging just 9:36 ATOI.

He struggled prior to the injury, posting a 1-1-0 record with a .873 SV% and 3.75 GAA. Carlson will miss his fifth straight game with a lower-body injury. However, Carlson was on the ice in a regular jersey, which is a good sign that he could be available for Wednesday's game vs. the Penguins.


Husso stopped 30 of 31 shots (.968 SV%) to continue his impressive early season run with the Red Wings and beat Minnesota 2-1. Husso has been worth every penny the Wings spent to acquire him in the offseason, as he has a 3-1-1 record to go along with one shutout and a .926 SV%. He will face the Washington Capitals who are coming off two straight losses in extra time after dropping their previous contest 3-2 in overtime.

Johnston drew back into the Islanders lineup Tuesday vs. Chicago and recorded an assist while only playing 8:41 TOI. He finds himself back in the press box Thursday as New York elects to go with veteran Matt Martin instead.
