Murashov was recalled earlier this week for precautionary reasons because of Stuart Skinner (upper body) injury, but he will head back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). With Tristan Jarry (lower body) activated from Injured Reserve and returning to the crease, Pittsburgh has reassigned Murashov to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The 21-year-old Murashov is widely seen as the goalie of the future for Pittsburgh and impressed in a small four-game sample (1-1-1), posting a 1.90 GAA and a .913 SV%.
With Arturs Silovs getting the start on Saturday, Murashov will make his first career start on Sunday. Murashov had an outstanding start to the season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL), where he won AHL Player of the Month in October, going 5-2-0 with a 1.73 GAA and .931 SV% in seven games.

Murashov is Pittsburgh's 2022 4th round pick (118th overall) and has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Penguins on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Russian netminder spent the majority of 2023-24 with Loko Yaroslavl (MHL) and had an impressive 2.03 GAA and .930 SV%. He is expected to start 2024-25 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) as he adjusts to North American hockey.
