Rasmussen (knee) will likely miss the rest of the 2023 season.

Rasmussen left the Red Wings' game vs. Tampa Bay on February 25th after just 2:13 TOI due to a knee injury and will likely miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season. It is a tough loss for the 23-year-old, who was having a career year with 10 goals, 19 assists, 88 SOG, 43 PIMS and a +2 plus/minus through 56 games prior to the injury.

Thr Red Wings have signed Michael Rasmussen to a three-year contract extension.

Rasmussen played almost the entire 2020-21 NHL season in the NHL, scoring three goals with nine assists (12 points) in 40 games. The former No.9 overall pick (2017) made serious strides this season and will look to be an important part of the Red Wings' middle-6 in 2021-22.

Rasmussen will draw into the Red Wings lineup on Monday afternoon.

With Robby Fabbri out because of COVID-19 protocol, Rasmussen will make his season debut on Monday afternoon. Rasmussen will centre Detroit's second line and comes in after picking up 18 points (5G / 13A) in 18 games with Graz EC during his COVID loan in the Austria's top league.

The Red Wings select Michael Rasmussen with the 9th overall pick.

Rasmussen is a huge kid, standing in at 6-foot-6, 215 lbs. and his big frame had NHL teams intrigued. Rasmussen had 55 points (32G / 23A) in 50 games and led the Tri-City Americans (WHL) in power-play goals (15). The Canadian skates well for his size and will bring a power-forward type of game to the Red Wings lineup.
