The writing was on the wall for Brandsegg-Nygard's demotion to Grand Rapids (AHL) after he played only 6:37 TOI in Detroit's game on Saturday. The 20-year-old heads to the minors after picking up an assist, two PIMs, 14 SOG and a -5 plus/minus across nine games played.

Brandsegg-Nygard was Detroit's 15th overall draft pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old forward has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and will make his professional North American debut. He scored 11 points (5G / 6A) in 42 games with Skelleftea AIK (SweHL) this season.

Brandsegg-Nygard was Detroit's 2024 1st round pick (15th overall) and has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings. The 18-year-old right-winger spent 2023-24 with Mora IK (HA) and had eight goals and 18 ponts in 41 games played.
