The Rangers are shaking up their roster, sending Jaroslav Chmelar and Brett Berard to Hartford (AHL), with Brennan Othmann and Gabriel Perreault coming back the other way in corresponding moves. The 22-year-old Chmelar made his NHL debut this season and is searching for his first point through six games. He has 11 points (3G / 8A) in the AHL through 19 games with Hartford this season.

Chmelar has played his first five NHL games this season and will be a heatlhy scratch on Monday against the Anaheim Ducks. The 22-year-old Czech forward is averaging 8:13 time-on-ice and has 12 hits this season.




Chmelar was a fifth-round pick of the Rangers in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and will make his NHL debut on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings. The towering 6'5 Czech forward scored 29 points (12G / 17A) in 71 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) last season. Adam Edstrom will exit the lineup to accommodate Chmelar's debut.


Chmelar was the fifth-round pick of the New York Rangers in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent the last two seasons playing collegiate hockey with Providence College, earning himself a three-year, entry-level contract by scoring 15 points (5G / 10A) in 26 games.
