Carter Hart News

Hart will start Saturday vs. the Stars.

Hart was pulled after allowing four goals on 14 shots in the Flyers loss in Edmonton on Wednesday. It was Hart’s first bad outing of the season and moved him to 2-1-1 with a 2.46 GAA and .904 SV% in four starts. He is a great option on Saturday, facing a Stars team that ranks last in the NHL in goal-scoring (1.89 GF/gm) through their first nine games.

Hart gave up two goals on 24 shots in the Flyers loss in Vancouver last Saturday. Hart has had a tremendous start to the season, going 2-0-1 with a 1.62 GAA, .938 SV% and one shutout. Hart has quickly answered any of the doubt surrounding him entering the season and he has firmly entered the No.1 fantasy goalie tier. Tonight he takes on an Oilers team that have started 5-1-0 while averaging 3.67 GF/gm (t-8th).

The Flyers and Blackhawks will meet in the Czech Republic on Friday and the 21-year-old netminder will start opening night. Hart was thrust into the NHL last year and played very well, going 16-13-1 with a 2.83 GAA and .917 SV%. He’ll be a solid No.2 fantasy option this season, but draws a tough assignment vs. a Chicago team that was eighth in the NHL in scoring last year.

Brian Elliott was already the confirmed starter for Saturday’s Stadium Series game and now the Flyers have announced that Hart is dealing with a lower-body issue and will miss at least 10 days. Hart has struggled mightily in his last two outings, getting pulled after allowing three goals on nine shots in both starts. Cam Talbot, who the Flyers recently acquired from the Oilers, will backup Elliott on Saturday.
