Carter Hart has not played an NHL game since January in the 2023-24 season, but will make his return after a brief conditioning stint in the AHL. The 27-year-old Hart failed to impress with the Henderson Silver Knights, posting a subpar 3.07 GAA and .839 SV% in three games (1-2-0). Still, the Golden Knights are placing their trust in Hart, hoping he can return closer to the 2.94 GAA and .906 SV% he had in 227 career games (96-93-29) with the Philadelphia Flyers before his hiatus from the NHL. The Golden Knights enter the action against the Blackhawks as -277 home favorites.

Hart was eligible to play in NHL games starting December 1st, so he gets called up from the AHL ahead of Tuesday's game vs. Chicago. Hart struggled during his three starts in Henderson, going 1-2-0 with a 3.07 GAA and .839 SV%. If he starts Tuesday, it will be his first NHL game since January 20th, 20224.

According to general manager Daniel Briere "Carter Hart has requested and been granted an indefinite leave of absence citing personal reasons. The club will have no further comment at this time." The 25-year-old netminder will take a leave from the Flyers after posting a 12-9-3 record, 2.80 GAA and .906 SV% in 26 games played in 2023-24.

The Flyers are riding a three-game winning streak, two wins courtesy of Samuel Ersson between the pipes, but will turn to Hart on Monday against the St. Louis Blues. Hart was serviceable in his last outing, saving 26 of 29 shots (.897 SV%) in a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild. The Flyers are slight +101 road underdogs against a Blues club that has lost two of their last three (1-1-1).

Hart did not play in Philadelphia's 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday but will return to the crease on Friday for the third time in the last four games. Hart has been limited to only one win in his last six appearances (1-2-2), allowing four or more goals three times and posting a subpar .890 SV%. That said, Hart has a favourable matchup against a Minnesota Wild club that has scored only 12 total goals in their last seven games (1-6-0).

Hart will make a second consecutive start for the first time in nearly two weeks when the Flyers host their divisional rivals on Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hart has allowed five or more goals in two of his last four full games but is coming off a solid performance on the weekend, saving 22 of 24 shots (.917 SV%) in a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames. The Flyers went 2-0-0 against the Penguins in December but are +110 home underdogs against them on Monday night.

After being unavailable for several weeks due to a myriad of illnesses and injuries, Hart will start for the fourth time in the last five games for the Flyers on Tuesday. Hart has saved 35 of the last 37 shots he's faced (.946 S%) and was tremendous in his only other meeting against the Edmonton Oilers this season, saving 22 of 23 shots (.957 SV%) in a 4-1 win on October 19th. The Flyers will look to snap a two-game losing skid (0-1-1) but are +161 road underdogs against an Oilers team looking to win their sixth straight game.

Hart entered Thursday's 4-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks early in the third period, saving all eight shots he faced after Samuel Ersson exited the game due to dehydration. Hart has been a stranger to the Flyers crease over the last month as he has battled a myriad of illnesses and injuries that limited him to action in only five December games (3-0-1), posting a .929 SV%. The Flyers are +117 road underdogs against a rested Seattle Kraken club that has won three straight games.

Hart was originally reported to be starting Tuesday but ultimately remained out for a fourth-straight game due to illness. The 25-year-old returned to practice Monday but was deemed not fit to return on Tuesday even though he was a full participant.
