Jets’ Morgan Barron out week-to-week with lower-body injury

The rough second half for a former prospect continues.
When speaking to the media, Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel revealed that forward Morgan Barron is going to be out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Arniel noted that Barron was hurt during the Jets’ 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets this past Saturday. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, as the 27-year-old registered 12:59 of ice time across 17 shifts in the victory, with Barron being on the ice for the final seconds of the contest.
It has been a bumpy season for Barron. An undisclosed injury nagged him in the opening month of the season, going on injured reserve in November. Then, in January, he missed a couple of games due to both injury and illness. The Halifax native missed two more games last month after leaving a game against the Colorado Avalanche on March 26 and entering concussion protocol.
In the 65 games he has played this year, Barron has managed to score 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points, a new career best for the former sixth-round pick. He last found the back of the net on March 21 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also has a plus/minus of +5 while averaging 12:48 of ice time per game.
With the timeline provided by Arniel, there’s a chance Barron might not be back for the remainder of the regular season, an unwanted scenario for a Jets team whose playoff hopes are slipping away.
The Jets (33-31-12) have just six games left for the season’s end. They sit seventh in the Central Division, three points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
