Some uncertainty regarding one of the Vegas Golden Knights’ marquee players.

When speaking to the media on Monday, head coach Bruce Cassidy revealed that forward Mark Stone is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Cassidy didn’t reveal whether the Golden Knights captain will be in the lineup on Tuesday night, when the team visits the Buffalo Sabres, the second-to-last game of their

Stone suffered the injury during Vegas’ 5-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Late in the first period, the 33-year-old took a rather innocent-looking cross-check from Penguins defender Erik Karlsson, which put Stone in a great deal of pain. He didn’t come out for the second period.

When speaking to the media after the game, Cassidy noted that Stone would travel with the team, but wouldn’t reveal anything more.

“I assume he’ll be on the plane with us to Buffalo,” Cassidy said. “I’ll probably have a better update tomorrow. Upper body is all I was told, and we’ll see where that lands.”

Stone has already missed a good chunk of time this season due to an ailment. A wrist injury that he suffered in mid-October kept him out of action for over a month. Yet, when he’s in the lineup, the Winnipeg native is effective. In 43 games, he has scored 21 goals and 39 assists for 60 points. He sits second on the team in scoring behind Jack Eichel, who has 68 points in 52 games.

The Golden Knights (28-18-14) finish up their road trip on Wednesday night against the Detroit Red Wings. Vegas sits atop the Pacific Division, one point up on the Anaheim Ducks.
