A couple of notable names will not be in the lineup on Wednesday night in the Twin Cities.

Not long before puck drop of Game 3 of their Central Division Semifinal against the Dallas Stars, the Minnesota Wild announced that forwards Mats Zuccarello and Yakov Trenin will not play due to injuries.

Both players are out with upper-body injuries.

Zuccarello was absent from Game 2, which saw the Stars come away with a 4-2 victory. This, after he appeared in the opening game of the series. It hasn’t been reported what knocked the Norwegian out of the lineup. He played just under 17 minutes in the Wild’s 6-1 rout in Game 1, posting three assists.

The 38-year-old missed a lot of time this season, including the first month of the season, due to injury. He played in just 59 games, but still managed to score 15 goals and 39 assists for 54 points, finishing the regular season third on the team in scoring.

Trenin played in each of the first two games in Dallas, but his appearance in Game 2 ended prematurely. Late in the first period on Monday, Stars forward Colin Blackwell laid a massive hit on Trenin, leaving the 29-year-old in distress on the ice.

Trenin was assisted off the ice, went down the tunnel to the locker room and didn’t return to the game. The Russian center logged just 3:02 of ice time across four shifts. So far in the series, he has yet to register a point.

Trenin had one of his more productive regular seasons in some time, scoring six goals and 17 assists for 23 points in 82 games. It was the most points in a single season since the 2022-23 campaign, when he was a member of the Nashville Predators.
