Stars’ Tyler Seguin expects to be ready for 2026-27 training camp

With just 47 games played over the past two seasons, Tyler Seguin is no stranger to watching his Dallas Stars team from the sidelines.

The 34-year-old missed 58 games following hip surgery in 2024-25, before ACL surgery took him out of the final 61 games (regular season and playoffs) in 2025-26. But while talking to reporters on Monday following Dallas’ first-round exit at the hands of the Minnesota Wild, Seguin said he expects to be ready in time for training camp next season.

“I feel good,” Seguin said. “The timeline with this is a few different timelines. Everyone’s body is different. I think the average timeline is about nine months, and that happens to be around Day 1 of training camp. So that’s good.”

Seguin was injured following a collision with New York Rangers defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov back on Dec. 2. The injury was originally described as a long-term deal, but he was officially ruled out of the rest of the season in February.

Seguin just finished the seventh year of an eight-year contract with a $9.85 million cap hit. He completed the season with seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points in 27 games.

The native of Brampton, Ontario was originally drafted second overall by the Boston Bruins in 2010. Seguin spent the first three years of his NHL career there, registering 56 goals and 121 points in 203 games. He was a rookie when the Bruins won the Stanley Cup in 2011, with Seguin recording seven points in 13 games. He was traded to the Dallas Stars in 2013-14, and has spent the past 13 years with the club. Seguin has 311 goals and 705 points in 813 games.

Injuries have plagued a large portion of his career. In 2020-21, he missed all but one game due to a hip injury. Seguin then stayed healthy for 2021-22, missing just one game due to illness. Seguin has missed time in every NHL season since, having played 70-plus games just once since 2022-23.
