Blues’ Robert Thomas to miss game against Kraken for personal matter

One of the St. Louis Blues’ top scorers will not be in the lineup for the team’s first game back from the Olympic break.
On Wednesday, the team announced that forward Robert Thomas will miss Thursday’s matchup with the Seattle Kraken while attending to a personal matter.

The Blues noted that Thomas is expected to return to the team on Friday, potentially putting him in the lineup on Saturday when St. Louis takes on the New Jersey Devils.
The 2025-26 season has been tough for Thomas. Along with the team around him having its share of struggles, the Aurora, Ont., native has already missed 15 games this year. An upper-body injury in late October knocked him out of action for a week, with a lower-body injury keeping him off the ice for well over a month. Thomas had a minor leg procedure late in January, which has kept him on the shelf through the Olympic break.
Thomas last appeared in a game on Jan. 10 against the Vegas Golden Knights, the game where he reportedly suffered the injury. In the 11 games he has missed over that span, the Blues have struggled, going 3-7-1, losing their last three games before the pause.
Despite the team faltering, Thomas has managed to remain productive while in the lineup. In 42 games, the 26-year-old has scored 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points. He sits second on the team in scoring, one point back of Pavel Buchnevich.
The Blues (20-28-9) come out of the break sitting last in the Central Division, just seven points ahead of the Vancouver Canucks for the worst record in the NHL. With 25 games remaining, St. Louis is 14 points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
