The league award caps a heady few weeks for Stone, who was signed to an entry level contract by the Senators after attending the NHL club’s rookie camp for the second consecutive year. Stone had four goals and five assists with a plus-3 rating to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to two wins and a shootout loss over the weekend.
Stone drew a good deal of press after signing his entry-level contract. Last season he scored 37 goals and 106 points with the Brandon Wheat Kings. He currently leads the entire WHL with 13 points.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 26, 2011) --- Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced the team has assigned the following 14 players to the Rochester Americans (AHL):
Forwards Marcus Foligno, Zack Kassian, Jonathan Parker, Michael Ryan, Colin Stuart, Corey Tropp, Phil Varone and Derek Whitmore; defensemen TJ Brennan, Joe Finley, Brayden McNabb, Dennis Persson and Drew Schiestel; and goaltender Drew MacIntyre.
No immediate fantasy hockey value in the AHL.
That would seem obvious, since last September he was trying to make the Blues' roster and heading into the 2011-12 season he's expected to lead the team in ice time. Still, after an 11-goal, 43-point season in which he finished with a plus-18 rating, he is assuming nothing.
Expect Pietrangelo to lead the team in ice time and in the locker room. The 21-year-old seems poised to make big strides this season and should be taken seriously in any keeper league.
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today the club has signed forward Mark Stone to an entry-level contract.
Stone is coming off career highs in the WHL and likely returns there for this season following the preseason. His strong showing in rookie camp was enough to earn a new contract, however.
The Buffalo Sabres have signed Brayden McNabb to a three-year entry level deal. McNabb is a former third round pick of the Sabres in 2009, drafted 66th overall in that year.
