DeBrusk has missed the last nine games with a concussion but will return Thursday vs. the Devils. DeBrusk, who has 10 goals and two assists in 28 games this season, will skate on the second line with David Krejci and Danton Heinen.
Garland was “sent” to the AHL on Wednesday in a paper move before the NHL roster freeze but returns ahead of Thursday’s game. Garland has not recorded a point but has 16 shots on goal while averaging 13:11 TOI/gm in six games.
Garland was given an opportunity to produce right away, playing on the top PP and seeing some top-6 minutes but didn’t pick up a point in six games. He heads back to Tucson where he has 19 points (8G / 11A) in 18 games this season.
With Mike Green out for 3-5 weeks, Hronek comes up from Grand Rapids for the second time this season. Hronek had three points (1G / 2A) in six games with the Red Wings at the start of the season and was even more impressive with 18 points (5G / 13A) in 20 AHL games. Hronek could play big minutes while Green is out thanks to a lack of depth on the Red Wings’ blueline.
DeBrusk missed Saturday’s morning skate and is not expected to play vs. the Maple Leafs on Saturday. With DeBrusk out, Gemel Smith is expected to make his Bruins debut and David Backes is expected to move to the second line.
Pettersson was a second round pick (No.38 overall) in 2014. The 6-foot-3, 177 lbs. defenseman has a projectable frame and a great first past but has struggled at times this season. Pettersson was able to carry a +1.9 CF% rel this season and should get a chance for regular playing time in Pittsburgh. Pettersson has 10 points (1G / 9A) in 49 career NHL games.
Garland, 22, was a fifth-round pick (No.123 overall) in 2015 and could make his NHL debut this week. Garland is replacing Michael Grabner, who is out indefinitely with an eye injury. Garland leads Tucson with 19 points (8G / 11A) in 18 games this season.
Boeser has missed the last 11 games with a groin injury but is “very likely” to play on Tuesday. Boeser, who had 11 points (4G / 7A) in 13 games before getting hurt, will skate on a line with Elias Pettersson and Nikolay Goldobin in his return.
Boeser won’t play Thursday, but Canucks head coach Travis Green didn’t rule out the possibility of Boeser re-joining the Canucks on their road-trip. The MRI on Boeser’s groin came back negative, but they want him to see a specialist to make sure they don’t bring him back too soon.
Boeser is dealing with a groin injury and will come out of the Canucks lineup in Detroit. Boeser is day-to-day and will be replaced by Jake Virtanen on the top-line. Monitor his status heading into Thursday’s game in Boston.
Brisebois did not appear in a game with the Canucks during his call-up and returns to the AHL, where he has two points (1G / 1A) in seven games. Jalen Chatfield was called up to take Brisebois’ spot on the roster.

Boeser missed the last two games with a groin injury, but is expected to play tonight vs. the Penguins. Boeser skated on the top line with Elias Pettersson and Nikolay Goldobin at the morning skate and returns to the lineup with six points (2G / 4A) in nine games.
Brisebois, 21, has recorded one goal and one assist in seven games with Utica this season. Brisebois could make his NHL debut on Thursday with Alex Edler and Chris Tanev getting injured on Wednesday.
Forbort has picked up two assists while averaging 18:55 TOI/GM in his first nine games of the season. Tonight he will be replaced by Paul LaDue.
Boeser missed Wednesday’s game in Vegas with a groin injury that has been bothering him for a few games. The Canucks likely kept him out last night because of their back-to-back. Head coach Travis Green expects to get Boeser back tonight, which would be huge after Sven Baertschi, Alex Edler and Chris Tanev all went down with injuries last night.
