Joshua is out week-to-week with a leg injury.

Joshua played 10:23 time-on-ice in Vancouver's 3-0 loss to the Nashville Predators on January 3rd and has not played since due to a leg injury. Joshua will be out of the lineup until at least January 10th, when the Canucks visit the Carolina Hurricanes. The 28-year-old Joshua has four points (2G / 2A), 20 penalty minutes, and 83 hits in 24 games this season. The Canucks have recalled Jonathan Lekkerimaki in a corresponding move.

Toronto has claimed Dakota Mermis off waivers from Utah and assigned him to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

Mermis has only played one game this season, recording a -2 plus/minus in 10:47 time-on-ice. The 30-year-old Mermis is an undrafted defenseman with 75 games of NHL experience. He played a career-high 47 games with the Minnesota Wild last season, recording eight points (3G / 5A).

Woll will start in New York on Thursday.

Woll was excellent against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, saving 30 of 31 shots (.968 SV%) in a 3-1 win, and will return to the crease in a rematch on Thursday evening. The 26-year-old Woll has won two straight games and is sporting a solid 2.48 GAA and .913 SV% in 17 games this season (11-6-0). The Maple Leafs enter Thursday's contest as -110 road favorites against an Islanders squad limited to two or fewer goals in three of their last four games (1-3-0).

Matthews has participated at practice the past few days but will miss a sixth straight game on Thursday. The 27-year-old Matthews has had an injury-riddled 2024-25 campaign and is pacing for his lowest offensive output since his rookie season, with 23 points (11G / 22A) in 24 games.

The Maple Leafs have lost three of their last four (1-3-0) and will return to Woll between the pipes after losing with Matt Murray in net in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals. The 26-year-old Woll has had an up-and-down 2024-25 campaign but has been reliable on most nights, posting a 2.57 GAA and .909 SV% in 16 games (10-6-0). Toronto enters Tuesday's contest as -141 home favorites against a New York Islanders club that has lost four of their last six (2-4-0).
