Stolarz, 21, has gone 7-11-3 with a 3.17 GAA and .908 SV% with Lehigh Valley this season. He is unlikely to get into a game as he expected to serve as Rob Zepp’s backup for at least the next two games.
McCabe, 21, has scored four goals and 21 assists (25 points) in 49 games with Rochester this season. McCabe will make his season debut tonight with Nikita Zadorov out for discipline reasons. McCabe had one assist in seven games with the Sabres last season.
Bobrovsky will skate tomorrow morning, but will be scratched. Coach Todd Richards is hopeful that Bob will be back in the lineup next week.
Bobrovsky is expected to return at the end of February, so it seems unlikely that he will play during the road-trip, but he is likely traveling with the team to get in a few practices before returning during the Blue Jackets three-game home stand that starts next Tuesday.
Tanev missed Monday’s game with an upper-body injury that is believed to be related to his hand. GM Jim Benning announced after Monday’s game that Tanev’s injury is not all that serious and he is day-to-day.
Tanev was reportedly spotted leaving the morning skate with an ice bag on his hand. With Tanev out, the Canucks will be without their top-pair because Alex Edler is also out. Alex Biega will make his NHL debut alongside Luca Sbisa in Tanev’s absence.
Stolarz did not get into a game during his recall and with Rob Zepp now healthy, Stolarz will swap places with him and head back to Lehigh Valley. The 21-year-old is 7-10-1 with a 3.04 GAA and .911 SV% in the AHL.
Bobrovsky has missed the last nine games with a groin injury, but Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards is hopeful that Bobrovsky will be able to return before the end of the month.
Bobrovsky returned to the ice on Monday and skated again today, showing continuing progress in his return from a groin injury. He is nearly three weeks into a 4-6 week timeline, so you could potentially see Bobrovsky return by next weekend.
