McCabe (undisclosed) is not practicing on Monday after leaving Saturday's game early.

McCabe suffered an undisclosed injury in the third period of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders and did not return to the game. The 32-year-old McCabe is averaging 22:01 time-on-ice and has 16 points (3G / 3A) in 41 games this season. The Maple Leafs recalled Marshall Rifai from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) in a corresponding move for precautionary reasons.

Nylander (undisclosed) has been placed on IR retroactive to December 27th.

Nylander missed his third straight game on Saturday and was retroactively placed on Injured Reserve. It's unclear was Nylander's status is heading into Tuesday's game against the Florida Panthers, but he is eligible to be activated from IR at any time. The 29-year-old Nylander has been excellent when healthy, scoring 41 points (14G / 27A) in 33 games.

Bobrovsky will start the 2026 Winter Classic against the Rangers.

Bobrovsky will unsurprisingly get the nod for the Panthers when they host the Rangers on Friday in the 2026 Winter Classic. Bobrovsky secured the victory in his last start, allowing three goals on 27 shots in a 5-3 win over the Capitals on Monday. The 37-year-old netminder has appeared in 27 games for the Panthers, leading the league with 17 wins despite a rather pedestrian .888 SV%. Bobrovsky and the Panthers enter action on Friday at -140 on the money line.

Nylander will not play on Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets, missing a second straight game. It's unclear whether he will be ready to return to the lineup on Saturday against the New York Islanders, but his lack of availability for practice on Friday is not encouraging. The 29-year-old Nylander has been excellent when healthy, scoring 41 points (14G / 27A) in 33 games.

Matthews (lower-body) will return to Toronto's lineup vs. Winnipeg on Thursday.

The Maple Leafs were successful without Matthews in their previous game, a 4-0 win over the New Jersey Devils, but will be eager to have their captain back in the lineup. Tanev has only played three games since returning from a seven-week absence due to an injury and will return to the sidelines indefinitely. The 36-year-old Tanev has been plagued with injuries this season, limited to only 11 games, recording two assists and 15 blocks.

Bobrovsky will start vs. Washington on Monday.

Bobrovsky's six-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday when he allowed three goals on 24 shots (.875 SV%) in a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Still, the 37-year-old goalie will return to the crease on Monday against the Washington Capitals, looking to build on his 2.79 GAA and .888 SV% through 26 games this season (16-9-1). The Panthers enter Monday's contest as -130 home favorites against a Capitals team that has lost six of their last eight games (2-4-2).
