Matthews will miss his sixth straight game with an upper-body injury despite practicing throughout the week. His next chance to return is Wednesday vs. the Stars or Thursday in Buffalo.

Joonas Korpisalo started the last two games with Bobrovsky battling an illness, but Bob is ready to go tonight vs. the Red Wings. Bobrovsky has a great matchup with Detroit in town—he comes in having won three of his last four with a 2.27 GAA and .930 SV%.

Bobrovsky missed Tuesday’s game vs. the Golden Knights with an illness but is good to backup on Thursday. Korpisalo was great against Vegas so he has been rewarded with a second straight start and it gives Bobrovsky an extra days rest prior to tomorrow’s projected start vs. the Red Wings.

Bobrovsky will not dress against Vegas tonight, so Joonas Korpisalo will get the start and Jeff Zatkoff is up from Cleveland (AHL) to back him up. Bobrovsky is day-to-day and should be ready for either Thursday vs. the Avalanche or Friday vs. the Red Wings.

Tonight he faces the Capitals for the fourth time this season—he is 0-3-0 with a 3.73 GAA and .831 SV% in the first three meetings.

The Maple Leafs already announced that Matthews would miss 7-to-10 days and his move to the IR simply opens up a roster spot for Tomas Plekanec, who they traded for on Sunday afternoon. Monitor Matthews’ status as we head into next weekend.

Bobrovsky stopped 18 of 20 shots in a losing effort against the Flyers on Thursday. Bobrovsky has won just three out of his last six starts despite a .927 SV% in that span. He draws a stronger matchup tonight against the Blackhawks.

Bobrovsky turned away 30 of the 31 shots he faced in a 2-1 victory over the Devils on Tuesday. It was a nice bounce-back performance for Bobrovsky after being lit up for five goals against the Penguins on Sunday. He draws a so-so matchup on the road tonight in Philadelphia.

Bobrovsky was beat five times on just 23 shots in Sunday’s 5-2 loss to the Penguins. It was the sixth time this season that Bobrovsky had given up five or more goals in a start. He’ll look to get back on track tonight against a mediocre Devils team.
