Vasilevskiy will start Saturday vs. the Jets.

Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 31 shots in the Lightning’s win over the Islanders on Tuesday. Peter Budaj gave him a breather on Thursday, so Vasilevskiy will obviously start tonight vs. the Jets. The young netminder leads the NHL with 18 wins and has allowed just seven goals on 128 shots (.945 SV%) in his last four starts.

Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Lightning’s win over the Sharks on Saturday. Vasilevsky has not lost very often on home ice, going 10-1-1 with a 2.38 GAA and .923 SV% in 12 starts at Amalie Arena. In his first start against the Islanders, Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 31 shots in a 5-3 loss.

Vasilevskiy allowed three goals on 36 shots in the Lightning’s 3-2 loss in Boston on Wednesday. After a rough start, Vasilevskiy was able to give the Lightning a chance at winning, but the comeback fell short. In 11 starts at Amalie Arena, Vasilevskiy has gone 9-1-1 with a 2.42 GAA and .923 SV%. Tonight he faces a Sharks team that ranks 28th in the NHL in scoring (2.58 GF/PG).

Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 37 shots in the Lightning’s loss in Washington on Friday. Vasilevskiy was excellent once again and is now 5-2-1 with a 2.10 GAA and .934 SV% in eight November starts. After getting Saturday night off, Vasilevksiy is fully expected to start tonight in Buffalo—he is 6-2-0 with a 2.15 GAA and .938 SV% on the road.

McDonagh (abdominal strain) will not play on Tuesday; hopes to return on Friday.

McDonagh skated with his teammates on Tuesday morning but will miss his fourth consecutive game with an abdominal strain. Despite not being available tonight, he is making strides towards a return and could be back in vs. the Hurricanes on Friday. Monitor his status as the week progresses.

Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 31 shots in the Lightning’s loss to the Islanders on Saturday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Vasilevskiy, who has won 14 of his first 17 appearances of the season. He has been virtually unbeatable at Amalie Arena (8-1-1) and the Blackhawks are just 5-4-1 on the road.

Vasilevskiy has been exceptional this season and comes into Saturday on a four-game winning streak while posting a 1.71 GAA and .944 SV%. Tonight he faces an Islanders team that has gone 4-6-0 while averaging 2.90 goals for per game on the road this season.

Vasilevskiy will start Thursday vs. the Stars.

Vasilevskiy allowed one goal on 29 shots in the Lightning’s win in Anaheim on Sunday. The win extended Vasilevskiy’s personal winning streak to three and he now leads the NHL in wins (13) while ranking tied for fifth in SV% (.930) and tied for 10th in GAA (2.32). He is a must-start regardless of matchup and tonight he faces a Dallas team that has lost four of their last six.

Vasilevskiy gave up four goals on 34 shots in the Lightning’s win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday. Vasilevskiy has won 11 of his first 13 starts to kick-off 2017-18 while posting a 2.52 GAA and .924 SV%. He has given up a lot of goals, but the Lightning lead the NHL in goals for, so expect him to continue to rack up the wins.
