Hedman has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but he could be back in the lineup on Thursday vs. the Devils. Even if he doesn’t return against New Jersey, he is expected to be ready for the playoffs.

Hedman will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury. He missed the morning skate so his status for Saturday’s game in Florida remains cloudy.

Vasilevskiy is scheduled to get one start per week and with the Lightning on the tail-end of a back-to-back, he is expected to get the nod tonight vs. Toronto. Vasilevskiy made 33 saves in a 4-3 win over Florida in his last start. Vasilevskiy is an excellent option tonight against a Maple Leafs team who have lost seven of eight.

Hedman was listed as questionable after suffering a lower-body injury last night, but has now been officially given a “day-to-day” tag, which suggests that he will not play tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. Slater Koekkoek has been recalled from Syracuse (AHL) and is expected to make his NHL debut.

Hedman left yesterday’s game with an undisclosed injury and did not return. The injury could keep him out of Tuesday’s game in Toronto and would be a massive blow to the Lightning’s blue line, who recently lost Jason Garrison and Andrej Sustr.

Point, 19, was a third round pick of the Lightning (79th overall) in 2014. In 60 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL), Point collected 38 goals and 49 assists (87 points).

Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 35 shots in the Lightning’s 5-4 win over the Stars last Saturday. Tonight will be his one start of the week, that he is expected to get for the remainder of the season. He has won each of his last two starts while stopping 59 of 63 shots (.937 SV%). He has never faced the Jets and has never lost at home—3-0-0 / 2.02 GAA / .934 SV%.

Vasilevskiy stopped all 28 shots that he faced to earn his first career shutout on Tuesday vs. Buffalo. It was a big milestone for the 20-year-old who will continue to see starts down the stretch to keep Ben Bishop fresh. Tonight he will take on a Dallas team who may not play a lot of defence, but can score with the best of em.

Ben Bishop was slated to start tonight but he was reportedly not right after getting nicked up by a shot in the pregame skate. Warmups was all over the place, giving no one a real idea of who was actually starting. However, it was settled prior to puck drop as Vasilevskiy took the crease.

The Lightning want to make sure that Ben Bishop is mentally and physically ready for the playoffs, so they will give Vasilevskiy at least one start every week for the rest of the season. With 20 games left, he is looking at 6-10 starts the remainder of the way, making him a strong goalie add.

Hedman left Thursday’s practice early with an undisclosed injury, but he was on the ice for today’s morning skate and said that he is good to go tonight vs. the Blackhawks. Hedman has three assists in his last four games.

Girgensons is expected to miss the majority of the remainder of the regular season, so moving him to IR is simply a formality to create an empty roster spot.

Originally head coach Ted Nolan was worried that Girgensons would miss the remainder of the season. He will miss a lengthy period of time, but the Sabres are hopeful that he will return before the end of the season.

The Lightning want Vasilevskiy playing as much as possible, so they sent him to Syracuse to start last night. He allowed four goals on 34 shots in a loss to Rochester. He is back, but there is no word whether or not he will start on Friday.

The Lightning are off until Friday and Syracuse plays tonight, so expect Vasilevskiy to go down and play tonight before returning to Tampa Bay for Friday’s game against the Blackhawks.

Girgensons took a James Wisniewski slap-shot off of his right foot and was forced to leave the ice and did not return. It did not appear that Girgensons was able to put any weight on the foot, which is obviously not a good sign. Coach Ted Nolan is concerned that Girgensons injury could end his season, but he will await the official word from the Sabres medical staff.
