Girard has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury but will replace Kurtis MacDermid in the lineup on Saturday. Girard has picked up two shots with four shots on goal in five games this season.

The Penguins listed Crosby as a game-time decision on Friday but announced he will play on Saturday morning. Crosby will centre the top line with Jake Guentzel and Evan Rodrigues.

Crosby has missed the first seven games of the season but has been skating regularly for the last two weeks. In Friday's practice, he skated on the top line with Jake Guentzel and Evan Rodrigues and was on the top power-play unit, both good signs that he'll play Saturday. Crosby had 62 points (24G / 38A) in 55 games a season ago.

Rakell left Thursday's game in the third period and did not return. Because of the back-to-back, the Ducks have yet to provide an update on Rakell, so consider him a game-time decision.

Chinakhov played in four straight games with Max Domi (ribs) on IR. Chinakhov had no points with a minus-3 rating while averaging 11:06 TOI/gm.

Dewar has scored two goals with two assists (four points) in four AHL games this season. Dewar was one of three players called up because Mats Zuccarello and Rem Pitlick were placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. If he plays on Thursday, it would be his NHL debut.

The Penguins said that they are keeping Crosby's timeline internal, so it's unclear when Crosby will make his season debut. Their next game is Saturday vs. the Devils.

Girard will not play Tuesday vs. the Golden Knights, so look for Kurtis MacDermid to draw into the lineup and Bowen Byram to take over on PP2. Consider Girard questionable for Thursday's game in St. Louis.

Crosby continues to skate with the team but is not quite ready to make his season debut. Monitor Crosby's progress leading up to Thursday's game vs. the Flames.

Clifton had a tough night in Philadelphia, posting a minus-2 rating in 18:39 TOI. Clifton will be replaced by John Moore on the Bruins' third pair.

Crosby has missed the first four games of the season and will miss Saturday's game vs. Toronto. The next opportunity for him to play would be Tuesday vs. the Lightning.

The Edmonton gets called up after Mike Smith (lower-body) landed on IR on Wednesday. The 22-year-old netminder has gong 2-0-0 while stopping 53 of 56 shots (.946 SV%) in his first two AHL starts of 2021-22. The Oilers have a back-to-back on Thursday/Friday, so Skinner could get the nod in one of those two games.

Rust was hurt in the second game of the season and is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks. This is another huge blow for the Penguins, who are already without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin upfront. Luckily for the Penguins, they only have seven games over the next three weeks, so Rust may not miss too many games.

Crosby has been skating with the team lately but will remain sidelined for Tuesday's game vs. the Stars. This is probably a logical decision, considering after Tuesday they are off until Saturday. Monitor his status as the week progresses.

Rust was banged up in the Penguins loss in Florida on Thursday and will not play tonight vs. Chicago. The Penguins did not provide a timetable on Rust's return but he will be replaced by Drew O'Connor tonight.
