Pittsburgh Penguins News

Silovs will start in Ottawa on Thursday.

Stuart Skinner struggled in his Penguins' debut, a 6-4 loss to his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, and as such, they will turn to Silovs on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators. Silovs has been inconsistent between the pipes for the Penguins this season, posting a 3.20 GAA and .890 SV% in 14 games (4-4-6). The 24-year-old Latvian goalie has lost six straight decisions (0-2-4) while posting a 3.35 GAA and .850 SV%. The Penguins enter Thursday's game as +146 road underdogs against a Senators team that has scored three or fewer goals in five of their last six games (2-4-0).

Kuzmenko will draw back into Los Angeles' lineup in Dallas on Monday.

Kuzmenko has regularly been in and out of the lineup lately, but draws back in to replace Quinten Byfield (illness). The 29-year-old Kuzmenko was excellent with the Kings after being acquired before the trade deadline in 2024-25, scoring 17 points (5G / 12A) in 22 games, but has not been able to replicate that success in 2025-26. He played a season-low 6:58 time-on-ice in the Kings' most recent game and has just one point (1G / 0A) in his last 13.

Rakell (wrist) has a possibility to return for the upcoming weekend.

Rakell has not played since October 25th, missing 20 straight games due to a wrist injury, but returned to practice earlier this week and could draw into the lineup as soon as this weekend. The 32-year-old forward was playing on the top line alongside Sidney Crosby and on the top powerplay unit, streaking for eight points (3G / 5A) in seven games leading up to his injury.

Pittsburgh has placed Matt Dumba on the non-roster list for the purpose of being waived.

Dumba was regularly scratched by the Dallas Stars last season and ultimately dealt way to Pittsburgh in the offseason. The 31-year-old Dumba continued being a scratch in his tenure with the Penguins, tallying three points (1G / 2A) and a -5 plus/minus while being limited to only 11 games. If he does not get claimed, he will likely report to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL).

Kuzmenko is expected to be a healthy scratch in Seattle on Wednesday.

Kuzmenko has remained on the top powerplay unit but has since been heavily protected at even strength, seemingly not having the trust of the Kings' coaching staff. Jeff Malott will draw into the lineup as Kuzmenko's replacement.
