As far as Palmieri, Carlyle expressed disappointment in the winger’s performance overall as his play didn’t approach what he showed with the Crunch last season when he led them with 29 goals.
Palmieri failed to show up despite having a chance to earn playing time during training camp. The former 26th overall pick still led the Syracuse Crunch in goals last season and should be considered a top prospect. Look for him to get called up if any significant offensive player gets hurt.
In other news, forward Brayden Schenn did not skate with the team at practice today. He left last night’s game in the third period with an upper-body injury and will remain day-to-day, but will not be in the line up for Thursday’s game vs. Devils.
The term day-to-day implies Schenn is not out for a long time. Last season he only posted two assists in his eight-game stint with the LA Kings but is expected to make the team and produce more with the Flyers. Expect him to center the third line.

ANAHEIM — Ducks Blog caught up with Kyle Palmieri and Emerson Etem, two former first-round picks who are trying to win jobs on Ducks roster during training camp.
Palmieri holds a decent chance of making the team after leading the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL in scoring last season. His breakout speed and nose for the net are only two NHL-ready qualities, the big question is playing time.
Matt Martin (Chances of being around on Opening Day: 80%)- After playing the most games out of any candidate with the big club last year (68), you would have to think he has the upperhand on everyone else
Martin posted 147 PIM and more importantly 300 hits in his 68 games played last season. If your league counts hits, he should provide a decent player on your left side.
Hopefully, I come in, try to steal a spot and hopefully put myself in position to make the team.
