Eriksson will sit on Saturday so he can “reset” according to head coach Bruce Boudreau. Zach Parise (illness) is expected to draw back in to replace him.

Pickard will start Thursday vs. the Coyotes.
Pickard allowed two goals on 36 shots in the Flyers win in Arizona on Monday. Even with Brian Elliott back from injury, Pickard will make his third consecutive start on Thursday. He has had a tough season, but has stopped 65 of 71 shots (.916 SV%) in his last two outings. Pickard has a solid matchup as he closes out a home-and-home with the Coyotes.

The Coyotes are on-fire and Pickard has a 4.51 GAA and .851 SV% this season, so he is not an ideal spot-start option.

Michael Neuvirth landed on injured reserve and Brian Elliott is questionable after getting hurt in Sunday’s practice, so look for Calvin Pickard to start in Arizona. Pickard has gone 2-1-1 with a 4.51 GAA and .851 SV% this season. The Flyers other option is Alex Lyon, who was recalled this morning.

Elliott has struggled in the early part of the season, so Pickard gets the call tonight vs. Columbus—the Blue Jackets are in the middle of the pack in terms of goal scoring (3.20 goals for per game) so far this season.

Gambrell had two goals and one assist in his season debut with the Barracuda before being called-up following Joe Thornton’s move to IR. With the Sharks off until Thursday, Gambrell could just head down to get some AHL games and return before their meeting with the Sabres.
Eriksson Ek will miss “about a week” with a lower-body injury.
Eriksson Ek will not play on Saturday and will likely miss all of next week with a lower-body injury. Charlie Coyle will play centre and J.T. Brown will play on the third line while Eriksson Ek is out.
Eriksson Ek (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Saturday.
Eriksson Ek missed Friday’s practice with “soreness” and is considered a game-time decision for Saturday’s game vs. the Hurricanes. If Eriksson Ek does not play, look for Charlie Coyle to move to centre and for J.T. Brown to play on the right wing of that third line.

Pickard spent all of last season with the Maple Leafs organization. Pickard appeared in just one NHL game but started 33 with the Marlies (AHL) going 21-9-1 with a 2.31 GAA, .918 SV% and one shutout. The 26-year-old is expected to make his Flyers debut tonight and makes for a desperate spot-start option against a Senators team that has opened the season at 1-1-1.

Hartman (shoulder) was activated from IR and is on the ice for warmups; expected to play in New York.
Hartman (shoulder) could play Thursday in New York.
Hartman was moved to IR retroactively to September 21, so he is eligible to come off of IR for tonight’s season opener. Hartman had 11 goals and 20 assists (31 points) in 78 games between the Blackhawks and Predators last year and will start the season on Nashville’s fourth line.
Waiver Move
The Flyers have claimed Calvin Pickard off of waivers from the Toronto.
Pickard found himself fourth on the goaltending depth chart in Toronto and needed to go through waivers to head back to the Marlies (AHL). With Michal Neuvirth battling injury to start the season, Pickard will likely start the year as Brian Elliott’s backup.
Bogosian is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Bogosian will be evaluated later today, but head coach Phil Housley called him day-to-day for now. Bogosian has had terrible luck with injuries during his career, so this comes as no surprise. Bogosian could miss the start of the season, which starts next Thursday.
