Foligno was knocked out in a collision with the linesman on Sunday night and had to be stretchered off of the ice. He said that he had lost feeling in the one side of his body but it came back quickly. He underwent an MRI and X-rays on Monday and everything came back negative. He was diagnosed with a "stinger" and is day-to-day.
The Blues have been hit hard by illness recently and it could hold Tarasenko out of tomorrow's meeting with the Stars. He has one goal and four assists in seven games, but keep an eye on him during tomorrow's morning skate.
The Blues are not in action tonight, so do not be too concerned, it is likely just a maintenance day for Tarasenko. He will probably be back on the ice for the Blues morning skate tomorrow and play vs. the Stars.
Foligno's head collided with a linesman's body when he was rubbed out by Jeff Carter in Sunday's game. Foligno was laying facedown on the ice and had to be stretchered off. It was a scary scene and likely an injury that will sideline Foligno for a lengthy period of time.
Petry was a healthy scratch in the Oilers loss to the Kings last night, but he will be back in the lineup vs. Arizona tonight. Brad Hunt will come out of the lineup to make room for Petry. Getting scratched last night was a surprise, so this move is not shocking at all.
Darnell Nurse will get into the lineup tonight with Petry taking a seat despite being completely healthy. Petry has not recorded a point with five shots and an EVEN rating while playing an average of 18:32 in the first two games.
Foligno missed Monday's matinee vs. the Ducks, but will be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Hurricanes. He will skate on the left wing with Cody Hodgson and Chris Stewart.
Zuccarello missed Sunday's game vs. Toronto with a shoulder injury that he suffered on Saturday. Zucc's presence this morning is a good sign that the injury is not serious and he could be back in the lineup on Tuesday vs. the Islanders. Zuccarello has yet to record a point this season and is coming off of a minus-4 performance vs. the Blue Jackets.
The Sabres said that Foligno is "banged up" so he will sit out this afternoon with Brian Flynn getting in the lineup. Consier Foligno day-to-day.
Zucarello is believed to have suffered a shoulder injury on Saturday vs. the Blue Jackets and that will hold him out of Sunday's game vs. Toronto. He has no points and a minus-4 rating in two games. Kevin Hayes will make his NHL debut in Zucc's absence.
Brodin, 21, is in his third NHL season and has one assist through two games after scoring eight goals with 11 assists (19 points) in 79 games a season ago. This is a very good deal for both sides as they have locked up a key member of their blueline for the next six years.
Fabbri, 18, was selected 21st overall in this summer's draft. He finished second on the Guelph Storm in scoring, piling up 45 goals and 42 assists (87 points) in 58 games.
Zuccarello, 26, showed that he is more than just a shootout specialist in 2013-14. He recorded 19 goals and 40 assists (59 points) in 77 games--which led the Rangers. He was a part of New York's best line last season, playing most of the year with Derick Brassard and Benoit Pouliot, but now Pouliot wears Blue and Orange, so Zuccarello will have to get acclimated with at least one new linemate this season.
Foligno signs a very cap-managable contract to stay in Buffalo a year after scoring seven goals with 12 assists (19 points) in 74 games last year. The 22-year-old has all the tools to be a good NHL player and the additions the Sabres made yesterday should help Foligno continue to grow.
Foligno hopes to be back for Game 3 in Columbus.
Tarasenko has been sidelined since March 15th after undergoing surgery on a broken hand. He was expected to miss six weeks, but he will be back in the lineup two weeks ahead of schedule. Tarasenko tallied 21 goals and 22 assists in 64 games this season. He will skate on the second line with Vladimir Sobotka and Jaden Schwartz.
Tarasenko has not played since suffering an injury to his right hand in the final moments of a game at Nashville on March 15. Tarasenko, who had 21 goals this season, had a cast removed on Monday and skated without that protection for the first time on Tuesday. He looked good while shooting and handling pucks. “We'll see,” Tarasenko said, when asked how soon he could play. “I don't know yet. We'll see tomorrow.
Foligno missed the last six games of the regular season and will miss Game 1. He is expected to be back in the lineup at some point in the first round, but will not be there on Wednesday.
Johansson left Friday's game after taking a Nicklas Backstom shot off of the wrist and did not return. He will miss the final game of the regular season and with the Capitals out of the playoffs, we won't see him until 2014-15. Peter LeBlanc has been recalled from Hershey with MJ90 out.
Originally, Foligno's knee injury was believed to be a structural injury, but turned out to be more of a bone bruise. He missed the last two games, but will be in the lineup vs. the Wings tomorrow. He has seven goals and 10 assists (17 points) in 70 games.
