It was announced Friday that Byfield will miss the Los Angeles game Saturday vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs due to illness. Byfield has yet to score in 2022-23, but has three assists and a -1 rating through his first eight games.

Pederson was dealt along with Ethan Bear for a 2023 5th-round pick. Pederson never got to play an NHL game for the Carolina Hurricanes before being health but has enjoyed two seasons prior with the Sharks and Coyotes. In 44 career games, he has one goal and four assists while posting a -18 plus/minus.



Kuemper stopped 23 of 26 shots as he won his third game in four starts 4-3 vs. Los Angeles his last time out. In his first season with the Capitals, Kuemper has struggled to find his footing, posting a .899 SV% and 3.04 GAA across his first five starts. He takes on Dallas, who is 1st in the Central, even though they've lost their last two games.

He has been steady this season, pitching a .904 SV% and 2.83 GAA while starting all but one of Ottawa's games. His Senators will host the Wild at home Thursday who is coming off a 3-1 win over Montreal and is looking to lower and improve their 31st-ranked goals against per game (4.67).




Kuemper is coming off a 26-save, 6-4 comeback victory over the Vancouver Canucks in his last time out. He has enjoyed an up-and-down beginning to the season after signing a five-year deal withl Washington in the offseason with a .889 SV% and 3.03 GAA through three starts. He will face the 1-2-0 Ottawa Senators on the road Thursday who is coming off a seven goal victory their last time out.

Anton Forsberg draws his fourth start in as many games as he and the 1-2-0 Ottawa Senators host the Capitals at home Wednesday. Forsberg collected his first win of the season his last time out with a 29 save 7-5 victory over the Boston Bruins. He enters play with a 3.39 GAA and .900 SV%. He faces a Capitals squad that has won their last two games while averaging 4.5 goals between the two wins.

Forsberg will man the crease for his third straight start as the winless Ottawa Senators host division leaders and rivals, Boston Bruins at home Tuesday. Forsberg will hope for a little more offensive support as the Senators have three goals through their first two games. He'll look to keep his strong .924 SV% start going as he hopes to collect his first win of the 2022-23 season.

Edler was a late scratch on Monday after taking a puck to the face in warmups. He will remain out on Tuesday, so look for Sean Walker to remain in the lineup. Edler is day-to-day.
