Kopitar was playing in a lower level Swedish league when sustaining the injury. He is expected to miss time if the season resumes in mid-January posing a problem for the Kings who had most players opt out of playing during the lockout.

The Carolina Hurricanes could have signed one of the best defensive prospects in the history of the franchise today with the signing of Boston College defenseman Brian Dumoulin.
Dumoulin, a second round pick in 2009, just completed his junior year at Boston College, scoring seven goals and 28 points en route to a National Championship.

As expected, nothing to worry about with regards to the Kings' #1 centre. Kopitar currently leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 42 points in 46 games.
Kopitar’s absence has not been explained yet, but it’s likely a “maintenance day,” particularly given the number of big hits Kopitar has taken of late. The fact that Kevin Westgarth is practicing with the first line suggests that Kopitar will be back tomorrow.
Doesn't sound like something to worry about yet. Kopitar hasn't missed any playing time since taking a big hit from Brendan Morrow.

Anze Kopitar talked to reporters and said he was fine after last night’s huge hit from Dallas’ Brenden Morrow, which took him out of the game.
Great news for everyone invested in the star center. His 40 points in 44 games lead all Kings players by a healthy margin. Expect him to continue centering the top line.
Darryl Sutter’s only update on Anze Kopitar was that Kopitar “will probably be fine. He’s got a bloody nose.” Kopitar took a huge hit, in the upper chest/shoulder area, from Dallas’ Brenden Morrow with less than eight minutes remaining in the third period and did not return.
Losing Kopitar for a long amount of time would be a big blow to fantasy hockey owners and the Kings. The dreaded C word has yet to be used to describe his ailments which should be considered a good thing.
Edler said he'll play
Edler was previously deemed a game-time decision but it sounds like he will play after all. His 24 points are tied for fourth among defensemen in scoring. Expect him to play tonight.
Alex Burrows is not practicing with Canucks Monday but Alex Edler is.
Edler was injured at the hands of Sharks forward Jamie McGinn but is practicing with his normal partner Sami Salo. He scored three goals and 16 points through 23 games. Expect him to stay in the lineup.
Vigneault says Edler out with "upper body" injury, likely shoulder. Consensus is clean shoulder-to-shoulder hit by McGinn.
If Edler can't play, look for Alexander Sulzer to take his place in the lineup. Expect a future update on his status.

Doughty gets a more defensive partner as coach Terry Murray did not like the two together. So far he has two goals and seven points but posted no points and a minus-2 rating last night.
#canucks Alex Edler has a stiff back and is a game time decision.
Edler has registered three goals and 16 points over 19 games so far, playing every game for the Canucks. He likely plays tonight but Alexander Sulzer will draw in if he cannot.

The Minnesota Wild has recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the ECHL’s Ontario Reign. He will join the team today in Los Angeles as the Wild faces the Kings and will travel with the team tomorrow to Anaheim.
Kuemper is not expected to start any games giving him no fantasy hockey value.
