Los Angeles Kings News

Kuemper was the first goalie off the ice at Los Angeles skate ahead of Game 3.

The Kings will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday, turning to Kuemper between the pipes for a third consecutive outing. The 34-year-old Kuemper was excellent in Game 2 on Wednesday, saving 24 of 26 shots (.923 SV%) in a 6-2 victory. He has a 2.77 GAA and .905 SV% in 36 career playoff appearances (19-10). The Kings enter Game 3 on Friday as +126 road underdogs against an Oilers team desperate for their first win in the playoffs.

Kuemper will start Game 2 against the Oilers.

The Kings will unsurprisingly turn back to Kuemper between the pipes for Game 2 on Wednesday. Kuemper's play in Game 1 admittedly tailed off in the third period when he surrendered four goals, but he was ultimately able to guide his team to a 6-5 victory. Kuemper posted a fantastic 31-11-7 record and .921 SV% in the regular season, so it will certainly take a lot more than one shaky performance for the Kings to consider any sort of change in goal. Los Angeles enters action on Wednesday at -130 on the money line.

In addition, Kuemper was outstanding against the Oilers this season, posting a 1.05 GAA and .960 SV% in four games (3-1-0). The Kings enter Game One as -126 home favorites against the Oilers.

Burroughs will draw into the Kings lineup on Tuesday.

The Kings are already locked into the second spot in the Pacific division, so Burroughs will slot in along with Caleb Jones, Trevor Lewis, and Akil Thomas for Tuesday's game in Seattle. Mikey Anderson, Drew Doughty, Anze Kopitar, and Quinton Byfield will all get the night off.

Kyle Burroughs
Kopitar (undisclosed) will not play against the Kraken on Tuesday.

The Kings are already locked into the second spot in the Pacific division, so they are likely just resting Kopitar for tonight's game against the Kraken. Quinton Byfield, Mikey Anderson, and Drew Doughty will also join him in the press box.

Anze Kopitar
Forsberg will start vs. Chicago on Tuesday.

The Senators have won two straight and will have Forsberg tending the twine on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The 32-year-old Forsberg has been solid lately, posting a .936 SV% in his last four games (2-1-1). He has a 2.67 GAA and .904 SV% in 29 appearances this season (11-12-2). The Senators enter Tuesday's contest as sizeable -277 home favorites against a Blackhawks team that defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in a shootout last night.

Kuemper will start in Edmonton on Monday.

The Kings can clinch home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs by earning a single point on Monday against the Edmonton Oilers. Kuemper will be tending the twine for the Kings, looking to build on a stellar 2024-25 campaign, boasting a 2.05 GAA, .920 SV%, and five shutouts in 49 appearances (30-11-7). The 34-year-old Kuemper made 27 saves in a 3-0 shutout victory over the Oilers on April 5th. The Kings enter Monday's contest as -145 road favorites against an Oilers team without Connor McDavid (rest) and Leon Draisaitl (undisclosed).

Doughty (ankle) will return to Los Angeles' lineup on Monday in Edmonton.

Doughty has not played since April 5th due to an ankle injury but will return to the lineup on Monday against the Edmonton Oilers. The 35-year-old Doughty missed the first four months of the season but has been excellent since returning, averaging 24:18 time-on-ice and scoring 17 points (4G / 13A) in 28 games.
