Connor Ingram will start Thursday vs. St. Louis.

Ingram has served as backup goalie to Karel Vejmelka in two of three games this season but will return to the pipes on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues. In his only game thus far, Ingram came short of securing a victory for the Coyotes despite allowing only two goals on 28 shots in a 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Early on, the Coyotes seem committed to a two-goalie system but any false step could give more security to the other. The Coyotes are slight -102 road underdogs against a Blue team that has only scored two goals in their first two games (1-0-1).

Tristan Jarry will start Wednesday vs. Detroit.

Jarry will get his third start of the season for the Penguins who, after losing their season opener, have convincingly won two games in a row, outscoring their opposition 9-2. In Jarry's two games so far (1-1-0), he has a terrific 1.53 GAA and .944 SV%. Tonight, Jarry and the Penguins (-122 road favourites) face off against the Detroit Red Wings, who are also off to a hot start as well, outscoring opponents 13-8 in their first three games (2-1-0). Though the Red Wings have an improved offence this season, Jarry posted a .950 SV% and 1.01 GAA in his only meeting against them last season.

Josh Brown will draw back into the Coyotes' lineup Tuesday vs. the New York Islanders.

Brown was a healthy scratch for Arizona's victory over the Rangers on Monday but will draw back into the lineup Tuesday vs. the New York Islanders. The 29-year-old defensemen will be replacing Troy Stecher in the Coyotes' lineup. In his one-game of action this season, he has one SOG through 13:14 TOI.

Josh Brown will be a healthy scratch Monday vs. the New York Rangers.

Brown collected 13:14 TOI in the Coyotes' season opening win vs. New Jersey but will be the odd man out as he is a healthy scratch Monday for Troy Stecher. The 29-year-old defenseman is coming off a four goal, three assist, 87 PIM season across 68 games played in 2022-23 and is playing in his sixth NHL season and has eight goals and 24 points in 240 career games played.

Jack Roslovic will find himself back in Columbus' lineup Monday vs. Detroit.

Roslovic was a late scratch in the Blue Jackets second game of the season but is expected to return to the lineup on Monday night against the Red Wings. Roslovic will likely find himself back on the fourth line with Sean Kuraly and Emil Bemstrom. He had zero shots and a -1 plus/minus rating in 9:31 time-on-ice in his only game this season.

Ekholm (hip) is expected to make his season debut on Saturday.

Ekholm missed the Oilers' season opener with a hip injury but is expected to play Saturday vs. the Canucks. Ekholm will help the Oilers blueline, which yielded eight goals on Wednesday. After joining the Oilers last season, Ekholm had 14 points (4G / 10A) and a remarkable plus-28 in 21 games.

Mattias Ekholm
Mattias Ekholm (hip flexor) will be a game-time decision Saturday vs. Vancouver.

Things look promising for Ekholm, who is listed as a game-time decision, to make his season debut on Saturday as he was participating regularly in drills alongside Evan Bouchard. Ekholm had 14 points (4G / 10A) in 21 games for the Oilers last season after being traded from the Nashville Predators at the trade deadline.

Tristan Jarry will start Friday vs. Washington.

Jarry will get his second start for the Penguins in as many games and look to help them secure their first victory of the season. Despite a 4-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, Jarry played reasonably well in the season opener, saving 32 of 35 shots. The Penguins are -120 road favourites against the Capitals, who will be playing their first game of the season.

Vasily Podkolzin has been assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL).

Podkolzin recorded seven points (4G / 3A) in 39 games with Vancouver last season to go with 18 points (7G / 11A) in 28 games with Abbotsford (AHL). Vancouver's first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft will likely see time between both squads again this season. Akito Hirose was recalled from Abbotsford but is unlikely to see much playing time with Vancouver's recent addition of Sam Lafferty.

Jarry will start against the Blackhawks on Tuesday.

Jarry picked up 24 wins for the Penguins in the 2022-23 season to go along with a 2.90 GAA and a .909 SV% across 47 appearances. He is expected to command a heavy workload for the Penguins this season and will get the nod in their season opener against Chicago. Jarry looks to be one of the safer starts on the slate as the Penguins are heavy favourites over Connor Bedard’s Blackhawks tonight.

Ekholm (hip) is questionable to play in the Oilers season opener.

Ekholm practiced on Friday but said he can't say for sure that he'll be ready for opening night and that the injury has taken longer to heal that he originally thought. Philip Broberg will likely suit up if Ekholm can't play against the Canucks on Wednesday.

San Jose has claimed Ty Emberson off waivers from the New York Rangers.

Emberson was placed on waivers by the New York Rangers and has been claimed by San Jose on Saturday. The 23-year-old defenseman has yet to appear in any NHL games in his career but was a 2018 third-round (73rd overall) draft pick to Arizona.
