McDavid is battling a lower-body injury and could be at risk of missing Wednesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights. McDavid is in the middle of a race of for the Art Ross Trophy, with 130 points (31G / 99A) in 74 games.

Murphy has been out of the lineup since mid-January but is targeting a return on Friday against the Nashville Predators. Murphy played the first 43 games for the Blackhawks this season, scoring eight points (2G / 6A), tallying 93 hits, and 105 blocks.

With Jonas Johansson sidelined due to a lower-body injury and the Lightning playing their second game in as many nights, it will be Matt Tomkins who gets the nod in Montreal on Thursday. It is the only victory of the 29-year-old's career to date, so he will be hoping for a repeat performance on Thursday. The Lightning enter the game as -160 favourites over the Habs.

Carolina's goaltending carousel continues on Thursday as it is Frederik Andersen's turn at the Hurricanes' crease as he looks for his eighth straight victory and second straight shutout. The 34-year-old's last loss came on November 2nd after he missed time due to blood clots and has played sensational since returning with his 11-1-0 record, 1.86 GAA and .930 SV%. He will host the Boston Bruins on Thursday, who have won their last two games and are third in the NHL in points with 103 on the season.

Jarry will serve as the backup on Thursday to Alex Nedeljkovic, who has performed admirably lately and will start for the third time in the last four days. With the Penguins in a heated race for the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference, they will likely continue to roll with Nedeljkovic as long as he regularly continues giving them a chance to win.

Levi played well in his most recent stint with the Sabres, saving an impressive 90 of 95 shots (.947 SV%) across three outings (1-1-0). The 22-year-old netminder will return to the Rochester Americans (AHL), where he has amassed an 11-5-3 record to go along with a .927 SV% across 19 appearances.

The Sabres were on the losing end of an embarrassing 6-2 contest against the Ottawa Senators last night and will turn to Levi in the crease on Friday against the New Jersey Devils. Levi was solid in relief of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen on Wednesday, saving 31 of 32 shots (.969 SV%) in the eventual 6-2 loss.

Shea will return to Pittsburgh yet again after putting up two goals and six points in 22 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). The 27-year-old is still looking for his first NHL point this season as he appeared in 22 games with the Penguins earlier in the year and had six PIMs and a -2 plus/minus.
