The Predators have signed Colin Blackwell to a two-year deal worth $1.3M ($650K AAV).

Blackwell is formerly a seventh-round pick of the Sharks (No.194 in 2011) and is coming off of a season in which he had 17 goals and 28 assists (45 points) in 61 games with the Rochester Americans (AHL). He will be in Milwaukee (AHL) to start the 2019 season.

DeSmith will start against the Canadiens on Wednesday.

It’s the first start for DeSmith since March 14th when he allowed four goals on 33 shots in an overtime loss to the Rangers. Tristian Jarry was sent down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) on Monday, so DeSmith should continue to handle backup duties from here on out. He draws a strong matchup tonight against the Canadiens.

Petrovic (lower-body) is expected to be back in the Panthers lineup on Monday.

Petrovic has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury but it looks like he’ll be back in tonight in Montreal. Petrovic doesn’t bring a lot off offence to the table, having picked up just 11 points (1G / 10A) in 56 games this season.

DeSmith will start Wednesday in New York.

DeSmith allowed one goal on 18 shots in the Penguins win over the Stars on Sunday. After a few tough outings, DeSmith has settled in a bit recently, stopping 26 of the last 27 shots (.963 SV%) that he has faced. Tonight he faces the Rangers at Madison Square Garden and comes in at 1-2-0 with a 2.99 GAA and .909 SV% on the road.
