Blackwood will make his first career NHL start tonight in the front-end of the Devils’ back-to-back. Blackwood was a second-round pick (No.42 overall) in 2015 and has gone 30-38-4 with a 2.91 GAA, .898 SV% and six shutouts in 83 AHL games. Sub-par AHL numbers and a tough road matchup in Columbus should keep Blackwood on the waiver wire.
Toews has registered five goals and 14 assists (19 points) in 24 games with Bridgeport this season. Over the last three years, Toews has 18 goals and 68 assists (86 points) in 130 games. He comes up with Thomas Hickey on IR and could make his NHL debut on Thursday.
Nelson was hurt on Tuesday following a knee-on-knee collision with Ian Cole. Nelson will be a game-time decision in Arizona.
Blackwood has gone 6-7-0 wth a 2.69 GAA and .911 SV% in 15 games with Binghamton this season. The 22-year-old, former second-round pick (No.42 overall in 2015) will serve as the Devils’ No.2 netminder while Cory Schneider (abdominal strain) is on IR.
Kamenev suffered a shoulder injury that will require surgery on Saturday and will likely miss the rest of the season according to head coach Jared Bednar. This is the second major injury that Kamenev has suffered in two years since being acquired from the Predators. A.J Greer was recalled from Colorado (AHL) to replace him on the roster.
Wedgewood was recalled to serve as Linus Ullmark’s backup on Saturday with Carter Hutton sidelined. Hutton will return as the backup on Tuesday, so Wedgewood heads back to the AHL.
Wedgewood has gone 8-4-0 with a 2.91 GAA and .907 SV% in 14 games with Rochester this season. With Carter Hutton out with an upper-body injury, look for Wedgewood to backup Linus Ullmark on Saturday.
Nichushkin was a healthy scratch in Vancouver on Sunday but will replace Gemel Smith on Monday. Nichushkin has just four assists in 21 games this season.
Kamenev was in the lineup for 13 straight games, picking up two goals and three assists in the process. Tonight he will be replaced by Sven Andrighetto.
Manson got dinged up on Sunday and is questionable to play Tuesday vs. the Flyers. The Ducks continue to get banged up and if Manson can’t go tonight, Luke Schenn will draw back into the lineup.
Kamenev was scratched on Wednesday but will replace Gabriel Bourque in the lineup on Friday. Kamenev has yet to record a point and has played just 8:47 TOI/GM through five games this season. He will centre the fourth line with Colin Wilson and Tyson Jost on his wings.
Nichushkin has missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury, but will return on the Stars fourth line tonight. Nichushkin has just one assist and eight shots on goal in three games so far this season.
Nichushkin will miss his second straight game with an undisclosed injury. Head coach Jim Montgomery said that Nichushkin is still fighting the injury, but it sounds like he is no more than day-to-day.
It will be Kamenev’s fourth appearance with the Avalanche after being acquired from the Predators last season. The 22-year-old had one assist in two games with Colorado (AHL) before he was called up last week.
Nichushkin took part in the Stars morning skate on Tuesday and is expected to make his season debut tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. The 23-year-old has not played in the NHL since the 2015-16 season, but scored 27 goals and 24 assists (51 points) in 86 KHL games since then.
Landeskog missed Monday’s practice but was on the ice for Tuesday’s morning skate and will play tonight in Columbus. Landeskog has one goal, one assist, a plus-3 rating and two shots on goal in the first two games of the season.
Kamenev did not make the Avalanche out of training camp and headed to the Eagles (AHL) to start the season. The 22-year-old had one assist in two games but has been recalled with Gabriel Landeskog banged up.
