Nielsen is an undrafted forward that has exclusively spent the last five seasons in the AHL. The 25-year-old will suit up for his first NHL game on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has nine points (5G / 4A) in 11 games with the Colorado Eagles (AHL) this season.

Mackenzie Blackwood made his season debut, returning from a lower-body injury, in Colorado's most recent outing, but the team will err on the side of caution, returning to Wedgewood on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 33-year-old Wedgewood was solid in his last contest, saving 21 of 23 shots (.913 SV%) in a 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. He has a 2.53 GAA and .900 SV% in 11 games this season (7-1-2). Blackwood missed the entire first month of the season but will make his return to the crease on November 1st against his former team, the San Jose Sharks. Scott Wedgewood played serviceably for Colorado, filling in for Blackwood, but the team will be eager to have the services of Blackwood back in their lineup after posting a 22-12-3 record last season, alongside a 2.33 GAA and .913 SV% last season after being acquired from San Jose.

On the front end of a back-to-back, Wedgewood will return to the crease on Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights. After a tremendous start to the season, Wedgewood has cooled off lately, and should settle into a less active roll with Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) set to return on Saturday. The 33-year-old Wedgewood has a 2.59 GAA and .899 SV% in 10 games this season (6-1-2). Colorado enters the action as -115 road favorites.

Necas was acquired by Colorado in a surprising mid-season trade in 2024-25, sending Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes. Tyson Jost will be a healthy scratch on Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers, allowing Svechkov to re-enter the lineup. The 22-year-old Svechkov has struggled in his second NHL season, recording zero points, 19 shots, and a -5 plus/minus through nine games.

With Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) sidelined to this point in the season, Miner worked himself into two appearances for the Avalanche (0-0-2), posting a 2.12 GAA and .909 SV%. That said, Miner's reassignment to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) likely indicates that Blackwood is ready to return to the lineup for the Avalanche.

After an incredible start to the season, filling in for an injured Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) as Colorado's de facto starting netminder, Wedgewood's play has fallen off lately. The 33-year-old Wedgewood is sporting a solid 2.42 GAA and .904 SV% in nine games (5-1-2), but has lost three straight (0-1-2), allowing 11 goals on 52 combined shots (.825 SV%). Colorado will be put to the test on Tuesday, entering their game as -159 home favorites against a New Jersey Devils team leading the league with an 8-1-0 record

Blackwood appears to be nearing a return from a lower-body injury after being sent to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) on a conditioning loan at the beginning of last week. Scott Wedgewood has played well to start the season, filling in for Blackwood, but the team will be eager to have the services of Blackwood back in their lineup after posting a 22-12-3 record last season, alongside a 2.33 GAA and .913 SV% last season after being acquired from San Jose.
