Martinook has been on the COVID-19 reserve list and has not played since January 18th. Martinook should reclaim a spot on the Hurricanes' fourth-line and comes in with one assist in three games this season.

Slavin has been on the COVID-19 reserve list and has not played since January 18th. His return to the Hurricanes' blueline will provide a huge boost, as he should replace Jake Bean and skat eon the top-pair with Dougie Hamilton.

Martinook was activated on Friday and was on the ice for an optional practice, suggesting that he could be available for Saturday's home game vs. the Stars. Martinook should replace Max McCormick and take back his spot on the fourth line for Saturday's contest.

Chatfield is expected to replace Olli Juolevi on the Canucks blueline on Wednesday. The 24-year-old defenseman, who had four assists in 48 AHL games a season ago, should help boost the Canucks penalty kill and is expected to skate on the second pair with Alex Edler.

The Hurricanes played in Nashville on Monday and had just one player n the COVID-19 protocol list and that was Jordan Staal. On Tuesday, their game with the Predators was cancelled due to four more players being added to that list, Slavin among them. The four players with confirmed positive tests must stay behind in Nashville and observe a 10-day isolation period in the team hotel.

Staal was added to the NHL’s COVID-19 list on Friday and will miss Saturday’s rematch in Detroit. Head coach Rod Brind’Amour said he has “no idea” how long Staal will be out. Morgan Geekie has been recalled and will replace Staal on Saturday.

Ehlers missed Wednesday's practice and Thursday's morning skate because he's in COVID-19 protocol but head coach Paul Maurice did not rule him out for tonight's game. Ehlers is a game-time decision while the Jets hope he's cleared to play but Kristian Vesalainen will replace him if he can't go.

This does not mean that Ehlers has tested positive for COVID-19 but that he came in feeling unwell, got tested and was sent home. Expect the Jets to provide an update on Ehlers stats prior to their season-opening game vs. the Flames.

Gostisbehere has missed the last couple of practices and will miss the season opener vs. the Penguins. Gostisbehere was skating on the top-pair in the middle of camp but Justin Braun will assume that role on Wednesday. Gostisbehere is not on IR, so he shouldn't miss an extended period of time.

Jankowski struggled in 2020, going from 32 points in 2019 to just seven points (5G / 2A) in 56 games last year. Jankowski moves on to Pittsburgh, where he is expected to serve as the third line centre behind Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. He has bounce-back potential but won't be anywhere near fantasy lineups.
